It must be getting close to spring practice. Every year, a month or 2 before spring or fall practice, jokes start being posted.

You can tell how close we are to the start of practice by the time of day the joke is posted. The earlier in the day, the closer to practice beginning. Jokes start showing up around 7am and you know we're only days away. . .

Here in Knoxville on 4/20 would rather it be at Tennessee theater but Ive never seen a show at the Civic Auditorium.

Have seen several there. Not a bad venue. Saw Billy Strings there last month. Definitely prefer the Tennessee Theater though.

I just received news that a best friend's wife has breast cancer. Not sure the full extent, but she will be getting a bilateral mastectomy.

They both had just accepted dream jobs to move to Colorado from Kingston and are in the process of packing and selling their house when the news hit. She's an OBGYN and he just got his masters at UT in soil science. He's also a wounded vet. They're in a tough spot right now and need prayers.

Prayers for both of them.

Hes a bigger receiver. RT likes bigger receivers and we currently have zero playmakers at the slot position and we have zero guys who are a threat returning kicks and punts.

I could not believe he made the team, much less get used as much as he was. Awful - no threat to do anything.

You hit on the problem that Tannehill had. Not enough talent at receiver/TE. Add in an o-line that would not pass pro well. Teams could load up the box against the run game and were not all that concerned with the play action when Brown was out or limited. They need both outside and slot receivers to complement him as well as a real TE. This TE by committee thing they've been doing for a few years sucks. Time to commit to fix the O in the draft and FA.

There's a little thing called Title IX that prevents this from happening

I'm well acquainted, it cost my dad his scholarship. Title IX doesn't prevent it from happening, that's just an excuse. If Title IX prevented it, other leagues wouldn't have these sports either.

And going back to the women's wrestling opportunity, that's a perfect way to even scholarship numbers.

With NIL now, private funds can cover the cost of school for D1 athletes. You wouldn't even need a full set of scholarships. And yes, people would pay those funds for the smaller sports if it meant going D1.

Edit to add: I really wish they'd just take football out of the equation. Or heck (and this is purely a thought experiment- do not crucify me) what if they reduced scholarship numbers for football... would almost force talent to spread out over the country if 85 five stars can't all be at Alabama and Georgia. I'm sure some will still walk on with NIL, but it could level talent gaps.
