Another rough day on the farm. My recovering goat continues to heal, her milk sack and nipple is still there is only half attached. I'm hoping the rest will come off soon or we will likely have to have the vet remove it surgically. She is hanging in there and we are flushing the wound with betadine and water.Update 2.0 she is eating more hay, even took a little feed. She is eating some of her favorite oyster crackers as well.
Her most infected udder has opened and is actively draining..... This is a good thing, but she smells terrible, I wasn't prepared for how strong it would be. It's a small inconvenience considering her prognosis was 50/50 at best at one point.
She gets her last round of antibiotics in the morning, it is effective for 4 days. I administered her last dose of pain and inflammation meds this morning. I am hoping she's not in too much pain tomorrow. I am checking in with the vet in the morning to update them. Continue the prayers as we nurse her back to health and she can rejoin the herd and watch her babies grow.
God bless you and your family. You have a large one both here and on the farmAnother rough day on the farm. The old blind cat we had, her name was Oreo, passed this afternoon. Some of you may remember her from my updates of Phoenix the rescue we took in. She is doing great with her new family.
Oreo was somewhere between 16 and 18 years old. She came to us as a rescue when she was around 8, with only two teeth due to living out of dumpsters. When she came to us she had 3 absessed teeth and died on the operating table while having them removed, luckily our vet was able to bring her back. Despite all that obvious pain, with half her face swollen in unimaginable pain all she did was purr. All you had to do was talk to her her and she purred. We have her the best life we could and we with her this afternoon when she couldn't carry on any further.
I knew this day was coming, but knowing never makes it easier when it comes. My wife is taking this one harder than most, she feels guilty because we've been stretched thin with everything else going on. Please say a prayer for her, she and I are both exhausted.
Please rescue, donate your time or money if you can to rescues. You make the difference!

Wow!Times are from Kanab and these are in no particular order. I suggest you check these out for yourself and not just take my word.
North Rim of Grand Canyon. Not nearly as crowded as South Rim, but also not as many overlooks and hikes. But the ones there are every bit as spectacular. For a bonus we saw bison on the way in. About 1 1/2 hours away.
Horseshoe Bend near Page, AZ. A little over an hour away. Page also has other cool things but we couldn’t do them. I’ll send more later.

I was driving my (then) girlfriend (now wife) to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest one weekend in October or November back when we were students at UT. Put in the GPS and started driving.
Took me straight through the Dragon... in a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, on a fall Saturday morning. It was terrifying. Sports cars going waaaay too fast, motorcycles flying past me crossing the double line, motorcycles almost hitting me on turns, an 18 wheeler, etc. I only later found out about that road.
Kinda went out of our way to take the Cherohala Skyway back.

I would have been right after you. My first season was fall of '92. Played trumpet. But I'd say we probably knew a lot of the same people.I probably know you. POTS 87-90 with fill-ins in 91 learning a spot in pregame on Saturday mornings. Mainly did basketball pep band during the holidays when folks were out of town. H9.
