War in Ukraine

I spent 6 weeks in Ukraine doing mission work back in 08. Saw Paul McCartney live in Freedom Square. Met some of the kindest, most hospitable people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

This is heartbreaking, and this is wrong. 100% wrong. I hope this is a death knoll for Putin.

Russians are pulling back....but I fear that Putin is about to bring out the nuclear or biological weapons. I have a feeling it is about to get really, really bad.

I wish idiots who hate all politicians could offer a realistic alternative. I guess it’s easy to just complain about everything and not have to offer a solution to anything. That said there’s no denying Trump’s policies are infinitely better than the last two dims regardless of his tweets. Not pandering to every ridiculous thing regarding the pc crowd was also a plus.
Jefferson gave each individual the answer in the bill of rights. You can dissolve your political ties with the government.

I don't see how delaying could make it worse. If we get involved it will be catastrophic regardless of when that is.
We still don’t need our boots on the ground. The US attempted National building again and failed in Ukraine. To call Ukraine a democracy is a farce no matter how much money we pumped into them.

The Stingers are working. 2 Russian transports downed last night. Potentially up to 150 troops killed per shot. That adds up real fast.

Netherlands now sending more Stingers and other aid.

Seems the Ukrainians held up OK last night in Kyiv and, perhaps, even retook Kherson in the South.

Two Russian transport planes shot down around Kyiv, Ukraine says

At least two Russian military transport planes have been shot down by Ukrainian air defenses, Ukrainian officials said early Saturday morning.

An IL-76 heavy transport plane was shot down near Vasylkiv, a city roughly 25 miles south of Kyiv, said Ukraine’s top general, Valeriy Zaluzhniy. The Kyiv Independent reported the news, noting that the aircraft can carry up to 150 troops.

Another IL-76 carrying paratroopers was brought down by Ukraine's air defense near Bila Tserkva, which is also roughly 50 miles south of Kyiv, said Ukraine’s State Agency for Special Communications. Two U.S. officials corroborated this account, according to the Associated Press.

So far, the Russian military has not commented on either of the shoot-downs, but they are said to have happened as explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv throughout the night as Russian forces approached. In the course of the onslaught, Russian troops were repelled while attacking a military unit in Kyiv, the Ukrainian military said.

Putin watched a SlavTube video about Operation Market Garden and said "Hold my beer"

Germany may be open to SWIFT sanctions. This is pretty big stuff if Germany is serious. It's basically the nuclear option of financial sanctions, as it would cut off Russia from the global payment system. Other countries would have to pick up the LPG supply situation if they cut off Russia.

Speaking on Friday evening, Germany’s Finance Minister Christian Lindner said “we’re open” to the idea of cutting off Russia from SWIFT. “But one has to know what one is doing,” he cautioned, saying Europe needed to pose the question to itself whether the step may “prompt Russia to stop its gas deliveries, because they can’t be paid anymore.”

“And if those gas deliveries end, what will be the impact on our supplies?” he said.

twitter shut down the Ukraine military page and I think it was a good move. The disinformation rn is insane. Watch your trump media. Probably the most vulnerable.

Market Garden would have worked had the bridges not been blown but Monty wasn’t the greatest tactician and neither was his predecessor Field Marshal Haig. Have not been impressed with Russian Army in the slightest. The pictures of out dated T-72’s with those goofy looking cages welded to the top to “prevent” Javelin missile attacks is akin to Toyota trucks in the Middle East with heavy machine guns mounted to their truck beds.

Germany is utterly useless in NATO
