War in Ukraine

Did the US leave $80 billion in weapons behind in Afghanistan?

This is not true. A viral meme claims the U.S. left more than $80 billion worth of weapons behind in Afghanistan, calling it the “Taliban’s new arsenal.” The $80 billion figure does not reflect the amount of equipment acquired by the Taliban after America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

$80 billion is a lot of money, but I've wondered if, in the $80B figure, it is taken into account if and how inflated the values and costs of gubmint contract items are in many cases, such as the "600 dollar toilet seats" that hit the news around 2016. I mean, a warehouse of office supplies would be worth a *fortune* (at least on paper).

...while doing almost nothing to help.

You know, other than genuine prayer, I'm not sure what else I can actually do. And I think that's how many people feel from all over the world. I'm not talking about government or military leaders, I'm speaking about citizens of many nationalities the world over. I think there's tremendous support and concern for those Ukrainian people. The videos and the real time information is being shared the world over. It's incredibly compelling. I wish the people of Russia would stand up against that ****ing sociopath.

There was nothing that can be done since last week. The only way that I could possibly have seen Russia back down would have been an actual threat by the United States and NATO to defend Ukraine and enter war if Russia had invaded. Even this one would have been risky but it might have caused Putin to back down.

The complete lack of rational thought behind this meme is mind-boggling.

Donald *literally* called Putin's moves "genius" for invading Ukraine. And, somehow, the Dumb Donald Drones think he would do what... help Ukraine? Help Putin?

The correct answer of course is (C) Help Donald.

Donald is all about Donald. PERIOD. Always has been, always will be.

Lower gas prices, lower inflation, lower taxes, etc sure helped me.

Why in the world would we trust China with that info?

The progressive/Marxists running the House and WH do not love this country but rather are infatuated with their vision for it. The white supremacist America meme is not just words but a directive to deconstruct this country down to the floor. Lost lives are a necessary cost of reaching the 'greater' goal. They see nothing exceptional in this country except the hubris of exceptionalism and that we should be lowered and humbled, for the sake of national and global equity.

When that's understood, things - whether purposeful or careless undermining of the nation - no longer seems random puzzles in isolated craziness, but deliberate. We are no better than anyone and it's high time we learned that.

Actually, letting China know that we have a bead on Russian intelligence is genius. Of course they shared it with their buttbuddies.

But now the Russians are thinking they got a mole or their comms are hacked. Leaves them scrambling and unsure.

Words do matter, I agree. I’ll even agree that Trump is generally horrible with words from about any angle you want to take. However, it’s either a great coincidence or there’s a reason that Putin took action under Obama and Biden and not Trump. I believe he knows that Biden and Obama we’re all hat and no cattle, as the saying goes. Trump might’ve been as well but I think there was enough doubt in Putin’s mind that he waited. Trump’s words, even if not taken out of context and said exactly as you portrayed, still isn’t as bad as having a POTUS that Putin doesn’t think will act this giving him the green light to do what he wants.
Might be that Obama “I’ll have more flexibility after the election” was caught on the hot mic in 2012

Even if this didn't happen, it's a good idea to put it out there. Somebody was saying Klitschko is the one who made this happen. Hopefully, Putin and Ukraine can quickly come to an agreement that allows him to save face and Ukraine doesn't have to give up anything, but if that doesn't happen, Putin's going to find out how much harder occupation is vs. invasion.

Perfect timing for Clay Travis to pivot from epidemiology expert to foreign policy and international conflict pundit

Taken from Twitter
This is what everyone does on Twitter all the time?

Current events content creator changes topic with new current events. WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?

So weird for him to act like a talk show host.

BTW, nearly everything he has said on CV19 has now proved to be true.
I listen to bill Maher every once in awhile and he said that everyone was complaining about misinformation while most of the misinformation had come from the doctors, scientists, and experts.

It could be like that.

OTOH, we've a JCS in MIley that doesn't see China as geopolitical enemy and Pentagon Hosting Lecture on the Case for Democratic Socialism

Anybody who doesn't see China as the real threat should be fed to the garbage disposal - worth nothing more than plant fertilizer. Whether Russia would work in concert with China to divert attention is always possible; you'd almost have to believe that Putin feels sure he can get away with stuff because China has our attention. He probably doesn't think we could be stupid enough to really believe differently - unfortunately he's probably wrong on that account.

*Heavy sigh*

Once again, that is baseless when you include the massive Russian cyber-attack against American businesses from December of 2020 into the equation. Donald Trump's own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, publicly declared that Russia was responsible for the cyber-attack, but Trump chose to publicly side with Vladimir Putin's denial, anyway.

There is no reason to believe that Vladimir Putin ever had any reservations with attacking American interests, when Donald Trump was the President of the United States. If Trump truly had our back in the face of Russian aggression, he would have done something about the December 2020 cyber-attack. Instead, he did what he has always done ... take the word of an authoritarian ruler, and side with Vladimir Putin.
