It is strange to hear a former American President praise Putin that way, following an act of Russian military aggression. It was also strange for Trump to side with Putin's denial of Russian culpability in the massive cyber attack against American businesses in December of 2020, which was done over the conclusion reached by his own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. There is a pattern here. Trump is sympathetic to Russian aggression. He proves it all the time.

Good God, I don't like Trump but only someone with seriously deteriorated listening or comprehension skills would describe that as praise of the individual.

I have stated more than once that the way Hitler unified a country, distracted and focused them was amazing. He was an evil arsehole but it was an amazing feat nonetheless. Would you accuse me of praising Hitler?

Putin is savvy. His tactics have been sound. I disagree with them and hope for him to ultimately fail, but it's still accurate. Even bad guys can be savvy and geniuses.

The real argument (IMO) is that as the former POTUS he shouldn't be saying it, even if it's true.

Now is not the time to play politics, but both sides will, because that's what this country has devolved into, and the mindless masses on both sides of the political spectrum eat it up.
