War in Ukraine

Situation is a bit different. I think you'd have to admit. Of course, if Trump was President he'd be telling us that Putin denied very forcefully having attacked Ukraine and that he believes him. And that he doesn't understand why it would be Russia. Or, oops, I mean wouldn't be Russia. And that we should stay at Trump hotels.
If conjecture was a country, you would be the king of that nation.

There is no appetite for war here and it really didn't matter who the President was. The only question remaining is does Putin test us and see how far he can go? I sure as hell hope not.

It is strange to hear a former American President praise Putin that way, following an act of Russian military aggression. It was also strange for Trump to side with Putin's denial of Russian culpability in the massive cyber attack against American businesses in December of 2020, which was done over the conclusion reached by his own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. There is a pattern here. Trump is sympathetic to Russian aggression. He proves it all the time.

Sympathetic to Russian aggression? Then why does he state in the very interview that you propagandists parse, that this never would have happened in his WH?
Here's the actual transcript:
---------------------------------------------------------
BUCK: Mr. President, in the last 24 hours we know Russia has said that they are recognizing two breakaway regions of Ukraine, and now this White House is stating that this is an “invasion.” That’s a strong word. What went wrong here? What has the current occupant of the Oval Office done that he could have done differently?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, what went wrong was a rigged election and what went wrong is a candidate that shouldn’t be there and a man that has no concept of what he’s doing. I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, “This is genius.” Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.

So, Putin is now saying, “It’s independent,” a large section of Ukraine. I said, “How smart is that?” And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy… I know him very well. Very, very well.

By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened. But here’s a guy that says, you know, “I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,” he used the word “independent,” “and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.” You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad.

He wasn't praising putin, he's stating that Putin owns xiden just as he did Obama.

Actually, he's stated Putin would have never done this while he was in the WH.

Putin invasions with Joe in the WH vs. Trump? 2 - 0.

Dont remember Trump saying he endorses it or that Putin is a good person. He can be a monster and still get credit for playing a weak American President. Hitler spent a couple of years taking Chamberlain to school until Churchill came along.

Yes, there's been an unfortunate history of appeasement in Europe, but outside of getting the US forces in front of live bullets again its not easy to stop a determined tyrant. Trump was an isolationist and the only tool in his toolbox was bluster.

Speaking of playing an American President, I remember trump siding with Putin over our intelligence agencies in Helsinki. Trump fawns over Putin like a 11 year old girl at a Kpop concert.

He brought this up a day or two ago and I asked him to post the transcript, yet he called me lazy.

I love that there are still people that wank themselves off to this fantasy. It's hilarious.

This is the most idiotic and most uninformed statement I’ve read on here. Trump made NATO countries honor their agreement of military spending to fund NATO. The European countries had been grifting of the US for years. NATO spending and finding went up under Trump. Theses are facts.
It's really hard to choose just one.

I have argued for some time with people that Russia today is more in line with Fascism than the Soviet Union's version of Communism. There is a lot of allusion towards the Czars and Russia's history prior to the Soviet Union in their speeches, something that wasn't the case in the USSR.
Bulls****. Nothing Trump did strengthened NATO. He committed to reducing the number of US troops in Europe by 10s of thousands, especially in Germany. He did ask that European nations invest more money in there defense. But any way you cut it Putin was a fan of Trump's NATO policies.

Of course he was bc the status quo was being challenged. That creates stress. I can't stand Trump. I have zero problem with his approach to NATO. Long overdue
