And, he probably knows it now. With only 18 commits as the dust settles, he could have easily had room to at least take a chance on these two talented 4 star skill players. He's not at USC anymore, and finishing just behind MSU for 10th in the SEC should help him realize that.

He didn't screw up. He's the coach, if he doesn't want a player, I'm not sure who you are to tell him he screwed up not taking them.

Would you rather he take them for them to rot on the bench so we have 2 less spots for a couple of badasses he really likes next year?

What good it is to finish with a higher ranked class if the guys he recruited aren't gonna play?

He made the right decision and I bet he would do it again knowing what he knows today. It was not a mistake for the reason the poster above stated.

On the radio earlier kiffin seem like he wish he would have done the thigpen deal differently or that was the impression I got.

Yes, we should absolutely have tied up a scholarship on a kid that Kiffin doesn't really want just so that we could have finished a little higher in Jamie Newberg's rankings. "Sorry you've spent three years on the bench, Tajh, but it was really awesome to finish higher than Mississippi State that one year in that recruiting formula. But Knoxville's great, isn't it?"

Ya lets get those kids and let them not play and ruin there careers just so we can finish higher according to numbers.

Unbelieveable. Boyd may not even be ready for next year with knee surgery. Come'on guys how can you royally screw up with a QB that may not even be ready and a guy listed 5'9 who is more like 5'7 and is just fast?

Time will tell, but if he brings in a top QB next year Boyd will just be a memory. He stayed with Oliver and Teaque that are both the same caliber as Thigpen. Teaque is probally a overall better player and can do more any way, like slot WR or DB or even QB if we have a good trick play.

I have to agree this was not the best move and probably had an impact on other UT commits decommitting and going elsewhere. At the least it gave competing coaches fuel for the fire against CLK's efforts.

Spin, spin, and spin some more. Keep it up til you're dizzy, for all I care. All I know is that both these kids can play, and deserved the chance to show it at UT...where they both WANTED to be in the first place. How convenient for all of you to cast judgement now that they "would have rotted on the bench" or "would have never seen the field". Even LK couldn't have proven that...especially against his other QB signee; oh wait.

He screwed it up.

It's not the final rankings crap that means anything, It's the results on the field that matters...I've seen 5 * players not score 1 TD their entire career...so all that is just talk...Kiffin is the coach and he KNOWS what he wants and doesn't want...Like he said on the radio, He would rather have guys who can contribute right away rather than have them sitting on the bench taking up space. :good!:

some wrong facts here. 1- we were scored 9th in the sec.
2-only 18 commits? Florida only had 16. 3- we only had a couple of months to recruit.......

I love all these laptop recruiting coordinators that know more about Kiffin's system than Kiffin. They do watch the Rivals vids, so they probably do.

Isn't it just as convenient for you to assume they would have played despite the Head Coach's evaluation?

Sticking with the theme of the OP's username...

This thread is a shank.

I thought we did just fine.Who are we to second guess Coach Kif. Yeck,I almost forgot MH had told me I was 367,321 in line to be interveiwed for the head coaching position."You are right behind Duckhook." he said. Well I keep my fingers crossed you don't take the job when he fires Kiffin for this better than expected class.......

You know they can play? Ha, ok. You should sell your expert talent evaluation skills to various major college programs as a consultant. You dont know if they can play in the system Kiffin is planning on running. And you certainly dont know if they can play in his system better than the players Kiffin is saving these scholarships for next year. We replaced Thigpen with Teague and Oliver. Both similar and in Kiffin's opinion better players. Bottom line. Schlarship will be better utilized next season (that is plan).

Not like Boyd would be playing next season anyway...........considering he is having ACL surgery as we speak. I'd rather save that schollie for next year and get the QB that CLK wants and not someone to just fill a spot.

Actually, Boyd wanted to go to WVU in the first place, not UT.

You have as much basis to say they'd be good as I have to say they wouldn't play here, wait, except I have the HFC on my side, who is surrounded by the best talent evaluators there are.

You lose.
