We lived in Knoxville ‘97-2000 for my wife’s Pediatric residency.
During that time I was one of the doctors for Dollywood. At the beginning of each season, they would have me come up and watch all their shows. I would identify areas or activities of each show that had a high risk of injury.

Dolly was always in the Christmas season production. I was previewing the shows when she walks out on stage. She looks out and says that she needs our doctor to come up on stage. I go up on stage and she says Doc, I need your help. I need you to figure out why my back hurts. Then she gets a mischievous smile and says that you can’t blame these (pointing at her chest. (She was trying to playfully embarrass me in front of the performers). I said actually, I was going to blame your high heels. She laughed, gave me a hug and confessed that she was just having fun at my expense…I responded that I would still need to examine her to make sure AND then I turned red. When she saw how red my face was, she fell out laughing. Her laugh is contagious and genuine.
🤠

What HASN’T happened isn’t “apparent” to anyone. We’re also 2-3 Cedric Tillman/Velus Jones/Theo Jackson stories from exceeding 10 wins. Nothing’s wrong yet.
When was the last time we didn't lose multiple starters for big stretches of the season?...I'll wait..

He was the best high school coach I have seen in person, except for a Freshman QB I saw at Rogersville way back in the late 1950s. This kid was killed in an automobile accident on a Friday night when his football game had been postponed because of huge storm.
He played great against great comp and had moxie...I don't get it. I sure as hell ain't gonna be ashamed of believing he could do well at Tennessee.

I watched that kid dominate in several HS games against some of the best HS competition in the country...he played behind a decent at best OL, and didn't get his stats by being bailed out by the talent he played with...the kud threw beautiful pass after beautiful pass after beautiful pass..

I will never understand what happened to him. Look at the success of the other top 5 Georgia HS QBs in college and explain it.
I’m not a scout either but there was obviously a reason that a lot of coaches weren’t recruiting him that heavily from High School…. Chaney also didn’t want him when he became offensive coordinator….He was way behind Milton and Hooker…. He also struggled to do better than Maurer which is why Maurer was so pissed off when he got moved to fourth string.

I don't want to make a thread yet..................

But if anyone is interested in getting together and playing golf before a UT night game this fall....................Let me know!
I can make the arrangements.........

I'm making a list of those that "like".....................Later I'll make a thread and give out my email.......
Disc golf or ball golf? 😜

It hurts no one to have humility.
He taught me a very valuable lesson. When I interviewed with my current group, my interviews were about what kind of person each doctor was…I would not have joined if they were arseholes. (I already checked on the their surgical skills.)
Cannot believe that I have been with this group since July 2000. 😳

My wife is a surgical NP and this is roughly her experience as well. The vast majority of the surgeons she has worked with have a combination of narcissism and autism (or at least some degree of sociopathy/utter lack of empathy) that makes them very good at their jobs and very awful as human beings.

My group is actually made up of a bunch of pretty good guys. We have a couple of pre-Madonna‘s but they remain firmly grounded due to the rest of us. I
We have interviewed and not hired many qualified surgeons who are pricks. We turned down the orthopedic surgeon who is the team doctor for the Texas Rangers because of how big an ******* he is… Don’t need that kind of person in our group.

I have no idea whether BHH happy or unhappy with where he is right now, but Barnes did say on post-game radio that he initially wasn't going to start him but players told him he should (I think he specifically mentioned JJJ & Vescovi telling him that) & that his teammates also encouraged BHH telling him he's ready.
To clarify: the "frustrated with where he's at" meant on the depth chart. Not location. In case anyone misunderstood that, I worded it poorly.

I think they mentioned that during the broadcast, but I wasn't certain I remembered who they said was the player JJJ and Vescovi said should start/get more time. I think that's awesome on both of their parts AND Barnes' part - for listening to his leaders and letting them have a voice.

Lots of people shouldn’t have dogs. Not much keeps them from landing children. The adoption process concentrates on your financial situation way too much.

The adoption agency that we used may have been a little different. They did a thorough criminal background check. But the initial interview was with a social worker who came to our house. My wife asked on the telephone appointment call if she was allergic to dogs or cats because we had both a dog and a cat. She said she wasn’t allergic but was terrified of dogs. I had a 70 pound pitbull mix who was as sweet as he could be, loved children but looks scary as hell. I asked our veterinarian what I could do to help him becalm for this interview, he was a very active dog. She prescribed a Valium for him. I gave it to him an hour before the social worker arrived. He normally don’t barked if anyone rang the doorbell. When she came in and sat down on the couch to start the interview process he walked in wagging his tail light his head on her knee sat down still wagging his tail and closed his eyes when she started petting him. (He was stoned out of his gourd 😂)
She asked if either one of us had ever been fingerprinted and was taken aback when we both said yes multiple times. Then we explained that whenever a physician gets licensed now, the state requires fingerprinting so that they can run the doctors credentials through the FBI’s database. Most people have no idea how rigorous the scrutiny is to get a State Medical license, as it should be.
This particular adoption agency had a sliding scale of adoption fees based upon your income. The more you made the more they charged you. This was to help folks with adoption costs from lower income streams so that they would not be eliminated. Our adoption fee also helped cover all of the birthmothers expenses. We adopted both of our children from birth. Therefore, all prenatal and delivery costs were covered for the mother out of the adoption fees. I had no problem paying a higher fee if it meant that another couple could also adopt a baby. 😊
