Yeah, I'm being tongue-in-cheek with my Olympics posts, for those that don't easily recognize my humor. I do support our athletes because of the time and energy they put into their sports, but I don't disagree with your opinion. If/when they win medals, I think we should celebrate their accomplishments because they deserve to be recognized, but I hate that the Olympics are being held in China.
I feel like you about it

Would Steele even go back to Auburn? I know he has the support and that’s probably where Auburn goes 1st just because of the timing of all this, but they hired someone else over him first. Does his pride say screw yall? Or does he jump for the 3rd time in less than 3 weeks for a new job?

Lol if auburn even goes that route their fans have absolutely no desire for Steele

Makes sense, some people are just fragile about talking reality. Especially when they feel it puts "them" aka their ancestors, in a bad light. Just look at home - talking about slavery, confederacy, even confederate statues, we've seen how fragile folks can be about talking about past evils.

As long as they teach it, the only best weapon against repeating it.

I've read the illegal part is denying the holocaust or pushing "nazi propaganda". That's a lot different than just discussing it.
I know a lot of people that are extremely proud of being a southerner, but also know that slavery was an evil abomination.

The south didn't invent slavery, and as evil as it was..it isn't the same as the Holocaust, or the 💩 the Chinese, Russians and Cambodians did to their own people.

It isn't as simple as you make it out.

Meanwhile, at Auburn...

So did/does Japan.

Good for households (in theory). Bad for economy, unless exports can dominate even more.

There's a reason Japan has been deflationary for years. The Nikkei 225 is the same place now as it was in 1991!! Think if the S&P500 hadn't moved in 30 years...all those savers' retirement accounts have sat still...double edged sword.

Saving money isn't good for corporations selling you crap. And they better be investing abroad if they ever want to grow their nest egg.
True

He would have walked to Knoxville had they wanted him.

Not exactly but he might have been interested. Wes and wife Linda wanted to get back to NC to be closer to her family only reason he left Chattanooga. They really liked Chattanooga and was a tough decision to leave. My parents were good friends with them thru church not as UTC fans or boosters. Great people though and of course as a Vol fan, I would have loved Wes to be the HC of the Lady Vols. He's a great coach and much better then what the Lady Vols have had since Pat.

Name the boosters lol why didn’t those boosters win out last time around. It makes no sense plus the guy sucks as a HC they would be digging the grave even deeper lol
Assuming you're talking about Steele? Guy is a ****ing joke. Auburn needs one guy driving the boat. If you bought the boat, great. Doesnt entitle you to tell the Captain where to point the bow. People didnt like Fulmer because he did it his way. In a way, I respect the hell outta that guy for that very reason (as a coach), horrible AD.

He was definitely interested. My brother-in-law was good friends with him and actually built his house in Hixson. They lived right around the corner from me although I didn't really know them other than thru my BIL. My daughter was a decent b ball player and Wes stopped by one day when she was out shooting. She was young (9 or so?) and told Wes she was going to be a Lady Vol. He got a big kick out of that.

Oh, sure, let me go get my notepad where I have all the boosters written down and who were in favor of it. Gtfoh.

Last hiring cycle Auburn interviewed Steele. Multiple credible national writers mentioned his name as one to watch. He also did have support within the booster ranks as was mentioned on the Auburn sites and even talked about here on VN.

Auburn decided to go a different direction in the end but that doesn’t change the fact that he was a contender. Also, all the names they interviewed last cycle.. Sarkisian, Napier, Elliot.. etc.. all have HC gigs now. It’ll be middle of February before they start looking for a new HC if Harsin is fired. Being about a month away from spring practice makes it a lot harder to hire a coach.

Does this mean Auburn will for sure call him again to interview? Who knows. I hope they hire him personally. I don’t think he can cut it as a HC, like his Baylor record shows, so I’d be happy to see him go and lose there.
