Whatever money he gets out of this will almost certainly be the last check he gets from the NFL, too. Damn.

Yup. Its unfortunate too because I still think with some changes he could still be a really good HC, but I don’t see HC in his future anymore after this. Unfortunate. I really liked Flores with the Dolphins.

Also involved with this lawsuit is apparently Stephen Ross, Miamis owner, offered 100k for each loss if Flores would tank the 2019 season.

Just for clarification, he didn’t take the money. Won 5 games, didn’t get the 2020 #1 draft pick which was Burrow, and drafted Tua at #5. I wish he would have just taken the money, lost all 16 games, made a cool 1.6 million and the Dolphins would have Burrow. Damn you, Flores 😂

Whewww. Apparently Belichick let him know before his interview that Giants were going to hire Daboll, and that he being used just for the Rooney rule... So now he’s suing the NFL. If Belichick has proof of that than Flores is probably about to get paid.

Is he suing the NFL due to the fact that the Rooney rule is racist? Because there is no rule that says minority candidates have to be seriously considered for the job. What happened to him happens to a dozen black coaches every year. He can blame the NFL for being used as a token candidate but that certainly isn't the Giants problem.

Also, just to expand.. I don’t think this necessarily proves racism. I think most can read between the lines that the Giants most definitely had their mind made up before Flores interviewed, but Bill mistaking that text doesn’t really prove that Flores was used just for the Rooney rule IMO. Idk, I’m not a lawyer.
There’s no realistic workable SOLUTION. If the litigators honestly believe that billion+ businesses will agree to a government entity authorizing whom they do or don’t hire? That’s a litigation!

With all of these recent PWO's I am wondering if they are getting NIL deals, did we promise a scholarship in spring when numbers are better, or are they purely PWOs?

Who knows?

Some think so (NiL and/or promised scholarship). But we've had 3* PWOs in the past too. Just a lot of cojecture at this point.

One also wonders how the increased importance of the portal may be pushing more low-mid 3*s to accepting PWO spots.

the part about the yacht and the owner secretly arranging a meeting that would have been tampering is crazy

Who knows. I’m sure more of the specifics of the case will come out in the next few hours or days but the Rooney Rule is a league policy and there are several stipulations to the rule that’s defined in the policy. If he can prove they didn’t follow the policy stipulations completely then he has a case. If not, then he probably doesn’t. The fact that he’s suing points to the fact that he thinks he has a strong case.

Idk, I’m not a lawyer. Maybe @VolGee4 has some insights.

Yup, crazy, and probably happens all the time unfortunately. Maybe not on that scale where Ross secretly arranged it, but tampering happens all across the league. I wonder if he has proof of the 100k/game and this meeting, or if he’s just adding that in there as more of a “hey also look at this ****!” Lol.

Any football team nfl or college already knows who they want before interviews. It’s up to you to prove your better than that while they do due diligence. This stuff happens in corporate America too. The Miami owner stuff bribing a coach to tank is the bigger story privately here but it won’t be publicly.
