Before the season started, where did you think the 22 class would finish? Honest answer.

Right after the season, an honest answer of where you thought the 22 class would finish?

If your before the season answer was ANYWHERE inside the Top 20, I find it hard to believe...actually, I won't believe you.

If your after the season answer is ANYWHERE inside the Top 15, I find it hard to believe, as well.

However, Weezer, I trust you'll give an honest answer.

Personally, before the season, since I didn't think we'd win no more than 5 games, I figured the class would be anywhere from #25 to #100+ (I must say, before Heupel pulled the rabbit from the hat on the field this season, I viewed our Vols no better than Vandy or Kansas...that's how disgusted I was...complete and absolute total garbage). After the season, I figured anywhere from #20 to #25 (a respectful class considering EVERYTHING!!!). Factors of this thinking: 7-6 doesn't erase the sh!t stain we have been for 20 years...Heupel was hired late, therefore no relationships...first full classes for first year coaches usually are what they are, and the second class is where it usually picks up.

With that said, and where we are to date, my expectations have not only been met, but far exceeded...so, its hard for me to understand all the "struggling in recruiting" talk. Yes, there have been some misses; but, NOWHERE NEAR the nut kicks of the past few years. Yes, to get to where we all wish to be, competing for Atlanta, recruiting has to "improve", of course; however, reality is what I have stated several times before...these kids were 11,12 years old the last time we went to back to back bowl games.

Now that you know my thought process a bit, help me understand all the "struggling" talk?

Excellent post! This is where I live. I am so ecstatic with the difference between this staff and the embarrassing staff that they replaced. Yes, the defense struggled, but they still looked better than the year before. Breaking all the bad habits is tough.

I don’t remember seeing the defense not recognize or cover slants…running QBs gave us fits this year, but I am not sure that was more execution than scheme. Also lack of backups wore the starters out. I really hope to see the year 1 to 2 improvements in defense the most. If the offense also has a big improvement in year 2, watch out!

I am personally glad that we don’t appear to be chasing the money first players. Short term, it may help, but it will be cost prohibitive to sustain. If I gave money for NILs, it would only be for established Volunteer players. No way would I be willing to throw money at an unproven HS recruit or even a new transfer.

Well, I was not looking at through the lens of what you said. Read it without considering that. Glass half empty or half full. It’s all about how we look at the situation. I am definitely a glass half full person... and can’t understand why people want to only see what is wrong.
What about people like me? The ones that think we are half empty...but..we also recognize that's it is a lot better than the 95% empty we were a year ago at this point, and believe that we could fill most or all of the way back up if a ton of things go our way for a change, but that it is a very fragile chance at this point?

Does that make me a optimistic pessimist, or a pessimistic optimist?

The capacity will still be listed over 100,000. Y’all quit your b!thing over something that doesn’t win games.

@Freak would be very sad if we all quit our bitchin’. VN would have 3-4 posts per day. I could check in one a month and get caught up in an hour instead of responding to a Thursday post on Saturday 😇

Just saw where Travis Dye is transferring to USC. Lincoln Riley is building a team, or at least an offense. They've already added WR Mario Williams. If they add Caleb Williams as some suspect they will, they should make some waves in the PAC 12 this season. We make fun of how weak that conference is, but USC can be a real juggernaut when they're rolling. All that California talent and no real competition for it when they're good.

Sidenote - I'm glad Dye is staying out West, but he's a player I would have loved to have gotten. Strong runner and a pass catching threat out of the backfield, that kid could eat in an offense like Heupel's.

Yep. But you want to talk over and over about the negative. We see both sides, realize everyone has negatives and prefer talking about the positives. I always say...Don’t talk about problems unless you have solutions, or you’re just part of the problem. Just the way I live. People are amazed at how strong and happy I am considering what it takes for me to get through a day and what I deal with. (😂 Someone called me emotionally weak because I didn’t want to talk about the negatives... which we cannot do a thing about! It happened on the same day someone told me I was the strongest person they knew lol.) But I am not alone! “And I know He watches over me!” Whew, this covid has got me going tonight!

Prayers appreciated. Left a message with my doctor’s office about calling in a prescription. Figured they wouldn’t so called to sign up for the TeleDoc. 😂😫 Got someone who could not speak English or read! Should have heard him trying to pronounce my simple Irish name! Finally called me by my first name. At the end he had to read through a long list of stuff. He mumbled and mispronounced. I fell asleep twice! At the end he asked if I understood. I said... I think so. He said...Mam, I need a yes or no. I said...let’s go with yes. I was afraid he would read it again, and I couldn’t hold my head up. Slept for six hours. I FORGOT WHAT WE WERE EVEN TALKING ABOUT LOL. Hopefully, this NyQuil, Lyrica, and Zyrtec combo will kick in soon.
I can promise you the NyQuil will do the trick---stick with it and you'll see the results you're looking for. I do not own stock in the company that makes it :cool:

Doc, when you check in 30 pages behind, just start at the last page and read backward a few pages. That should do the trick :):):)

Saw a projected 2022 depth chart earlier. Not sure what kind of insight anyone really has this early in the process, but they had Ramel Keyton starting opposite of Tillman. Now I know why the coaches wanted Neyor.

Heck, if I could go back in time, I'd take a sports almanac with me and get rich-------too soon :p:p:p

I think that if you really could do that, the mafia would come for you…

Just imagine if you could take the stock market history for 30 years and invest. Even if you only invested in IPO, imagine dumping money into FedEx’s first day. Just doing day one jumps, would be mind blowing how much you would make.

Another thing that fans seem to forget is that this staff is not gonna chase anyone that doesn't fit their culture. That alone should eliminate half the portal guys. They're not gonna bring cancer into the locker room and if one slips in, he'll be shown the door quickly.

Simplify and save some money. Grab some Jack Daniels and make a JD/honey cough syrup....or if you're watching your weight...skip the honey.

It's a good philosophy, but it also makes the misses that much more painful because we're already working with limited options.

I went years ago when they played in the Ice Chalet. They played Kentucky and brawled the whole game.
I went a few times in the mid 80s. You could bring in your own alcohol. Really good times. I think most of the games were like 10 or 11 at night on Friday and Saturday. Some of my memories are a little fuzzy. I am going to blame that one on old age and not alcohol-destroyed brain cells.
