Hopefully. Who knows how many more Neyor's we will have to miss on for the average fan to begin to question what exactly they are funding through Spyre as well. After all, we will never see the numbers. "Would have worked out if you put more money in" is a stupid statement when politicians say it and it's not going to go over any better with these fly by night NIL companies. No way rich people keep throwing money year after year at unproven recruits. The transfer portal will still be big money, but I believe high school NIL money will slow down some
Like anything, the market corrects itself. Did in NFL free agency and will in this case. Hire and retain the people who can coach and teach. No way rich people keep throwing money year after year at unproven recruits. The transfer portal will still be big money, but I believe high school NIL money will slow down some
SCOTUS basically threw out language that equated to..."dare us" when it comes to limiting an individual's income on their own time. This and a salary Cap on NIL
Max 50k for freshmen
100k for sophomores
200k for Juniors
500k for seniors
Recruits that haven’t even seen a college field have zero business making 6-7 figures..
Yeah..I'm certain he is a douchebag, and that is totally irrelevant. Unless somebody can somehow prove he threw games then I don't care. If he did...then yeah I agree to lock him out and throw away the key.I did say later that know about his “douchnagness”
I’m only basing it on my personal encounters. In the grand scheme, he probably is a dbag…
And, if you have a really good coach and your NIL game is weak, you'll not keep him.NIL has changed recruiting completely. You can be a great recruiter in the old system, and get no one. You can be a poor recruiter today and get 5 stars. NIL is now the only thing that matters. You can't even judge your head coach on recruiting. It's not his fault if the NIL for his program isn't good enough.
College sports is not a normal business. There has to be some understanding of the need to insure a level playing field. Make it so a kid has to sign away his unconditional rights to do whatever he wants for the privilege of playing a sport in college.SCOTUS basically threw out language that equated to..."dare us" when it comes to limiting an individual's income on their own time.
I'd be curious if there's any way around that, but it feels like the universities/NCAA are pretty screwed on that front as of now.
Actually it looks like the court has managed it so that the "non-profit" (cough, cough) universities scarf down all the profits and do not have to pay their labor.SCOTUS basically threw out language that equated to..."dare us" when it comes to limiting an individual's income on their own time.

Everybody over here worrying about NiL and all I can do is think of Y2/Y3 with Spyre and 1951 under our belts...full-go...pulling TAMU #1 type classes and Heupel boatracing folks...

Can you call you Dr? Mine called in a prescription for me for an ear infection - he didnt make me come in.Okay, I am getting a sinus infection. Fought it since November. Any of my nice doctor friends willing to call me in a prescription so I don’t have to go in the doctor’s office and get the flu? It’s the only thing I have not had.![]()
With everything that's happened, I expected us to struggle in recruiting. As far as the ESP is concerned, we didn't struggle as much as expected, and I'm happy for that, but we still struggled. Clearly, simply stating we are "struggling with recruiting" triggers some people. It isn't an indictment on the coaches as many of the "whys" are beyond their control, but it doesn't change that we are struggling with recruiting. This staff targets players they want and they pursue. We've struck out three times in the portal thus far. That is the very definition of struggling. Again, that does not mean I'm saying Heupel is a bad coach or that he needs to be fired. I don't believe that at all. But surely you, and others, agree that our recruiting needs to get better. We're being honest, right? In order to continue moving forward, recruiting has to improve. And I honestly believe every coach on this staff would agree with that statement which is why I fail to understand why some posters act so offended by such a simple truth. I have to believe this is a lingering effect of BVS, that stating simple truths can cause so many such pain. Before the season started, where did you think the 22 class would finish? Honest answer.
Right after the season, an honest answer of where you thought the 22 class would finish?
If your before the season answer was ANYWHERE inside the Top 20, I find it hard to believe...actually, I won't believe you.
If your after the season answer is ANYWHERE inside the Top 15, I find it hard to believe, as well.
However, Weezer, I trust you'll give an honest answer.
Personally, before the season, since I didn't think we'd win no more than 5 games, I figured the class would be anywhere from #25 to #100+ (I must say, before Heupel pulled the rabbit from the hat on the field this season, I viewed our Vols no better than Vandy or Kansas...that's how disgusted I was...complete and absolute total garbage). After the season, I figured anywhere from #20 to #25 (a respectful class considering EVERYTHING!!!). Factors of this thinking: 7-6 doesn't erase the sh!t stain we have been for 20 years...Heupel was hired late, therefore no relationships...first full classes for first year coaches usually are what they are, and the second class is where it usually picks up.
With that said, and where we are to date, my expectations have not only been met, but far exceeded...so, its hard for me to understand all the "struggling in recruiting" talk. Yes, there have been some misses; but, NOWHERE NEAR the nut kicks of the past few years. Yes, to get to where we all wish to be, competing for Atlanta, recruiting has to "improve", of course; however, reality is what I have stated several times before...these kids were 11,12 years old the last time we went to back to back bowl games.
Now that you know my thought process a bit, help me understand all the "struggling" talk?
