I said that all night. They also kept letting guys on the wrong side make the spot, which is why they were constantly so damn terrible.
These refs had money on the game. No other explanation.
I was unable to watch live, but DVRed the game. Watching it for a second time now. I was told a crew from the ACC got suspended for a couple of weeks due to some sort of nonsense during a game between Miami, and I think Duke. It was suppose to be this crew.
At this point I am not trying to take anything away from Coach Brohm and Purdue. On the first look, I thought they played one helluva good game. But I am gonne watch for coaches sginaling players to flop. And I am going to watch all the PI nonsense as well.
I hate to think the fix was in. But officiating nonsense is becoming all too common.
Edit: If the fix was in, I feel there were several moments that calls went our way where they could have called it differently. However that OT touchdown disallowed? Nonsense.
As to the PI's? A few of the early ones, I can't argue with. But in the 4th? Nit picky.
Still, our guys made some really dumb mistakes. Letting go of the TE for a 62 yrd TD. Bad coverage on Thompson's late TD? Vols could have beaten Purdue and the refs without those screwups.
Maybe next year, we can make the Duke's Mayo Bowl. But I hope instead of covering the winning coach, do so to their radio play by play guy. Drop him in a vat. I want one Bob moment that would not be boring.
