Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I'm critical of the administration on the rapid test issue. And I'll also say that 500 million is not nearly enough. People will want to test numerous times over a month or so if they have to be in public.

Why would people want to test multiple times a month? If you feel sick stay home, if you feel fine why test?

How do you say I don’t give a crap about anyone but me without saying I don’t give a crap about anyone but me

Idk. I do give a crap about others and am intelligent enough to understand the ramifications of pursuing the “Covid is the only thing that matters” strategy.

you and Fauci just pretend to care about others and/or do care about others and are just too ignorant to understand the larger harm you are causing.

“The omicron variant has so far turned out to be everything Anthony Fauci said it wouldn't be. It has not been the winter of death and destruction that Joe Biden predicted — far from it. The omicron variant is mild. Just when you thought America could finally turn the corner on this pandemic, a new wave is sweeping across the land. Insanity. The unhinged meltdown on a Delta Air Lines flight by former Baywatch actress Patricia Cornwall wasn't a reminder of how far we have come during the pandemic. No, it was a sign of what is to come ... if the American people tolerate this insanity."

"Fear and neurotic paranoia seem more rampant than ever, even more so than the early days of 2020. And strangely, it comes from those who would ironically say they are the most protected. The thrice vaccinated. The double-masked person ... who also wears a face shield. The deranged lady who wears a mask outside by herself. The vaccine hasn't given these people their freedom. Neither has omicron. They convinced themselves for months that mask-wearing and vaccines would protect them from COVID. Now, confronted with the reality that it will not, they seem even more willing than ever to double-down on their crazy behaviors.

Omicron turns out to be 'everything Fauci said it wouldn't be': Will Cain

I'd prefer he 1) stop minimizing the virus. 2) really promote vaccinations. No more of this half azzed yeah you should, but ...
it's okay if you don't, crap. 3) he ought to announce emergency funding to purchase and distribute rapid tests.

Good start.
I really don't understand what you are upset about. At least in Florida you are given the freedom to make your own decisions about how you want to protect yourself. That seems like a more pragmatic approach instead of a one size fits all approach or forcing people to make a decision that they may feel uncomfortable doing.

You are so ungrateful.

Retiring head of NIH (Collins), CDC Director and Fauci have all indicated in the last week that there's more to managing this than a focus on zero Covid. They are admitting that they didn't understand 1) how people behave and how people would react to lockdowns and mandates and 2) how lockdowns and mandates create all sorts of problems for as Fauci said "a functioning society". The real fault lies with Team Biden for vowing to follow whatever the Science™ said without weighing all the various factors, risks and unintended consequences of a purely "medical" solution. Leadership is making the best choice among a range of bad options; not using a single perspective to make all choices. Team Biden punted to Fauci and Wallensky and they've been waffling back and forth since day 1. Hell, Biden said he'd let them decide if we need vax mandates for domestic travel. He didn't say "I'm weighing the potential medical benefit against x, y or z" Nope - just they'll tell me what to do. And they are admitting in the last week they also have not been weighing the medical benefit versus x, y or z.

The short version is that many people (most?) have seen the same clown show for 2 years and are not reacting with a "i don't give a crap about anyone but me" but instead with a rational realization of risk and recognition that the leaders don't have a coherent strategy.

Are there any countries that took the approach that you are describing?

The sheeple out in full force at the Covid testing site I just drove past. Omicron is a cold. CDC says quarantine is only 5 days. Why are you testing? If you’re sick, stay home. Besides, that test can’t tell the difference between China cold and normal cold anyway
COVID has now hit my whole family- wife, mom, dad, and presumably me (I tested negative last week but started showing more symptoms this week so am testing tomorrow). Only my wife has been really ill, and then only for two days. My dad and I ran small (99.5ish) fevers, and otherwise have normal cold symptoms. Mom has just had normal cold symptoms. My parents are both mid-60s with not great recent health histories. It's nothing to be terrified over.

I hope you're right. I'm from Missouri in the meantime.
