Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The symptoms are getting milder in spite of the vaccines. That is how this usually works. Over time, the virus gets weaker, yet more transmissible. But you guys are acting like the vax is fighting omicron and making the symptoms milder when that may not be the case at all right now.
It actually goes against the science, mRNA vaccines have always by design attacked a specific spike for immunity. Any variation from this spike and the efficacy severely drops. People praising this vaccine as the savior against all variations of COVID do not believe in science.

Year long study of myocarditis and myopericarditis following two dose regimen of both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines demonstrate rate of occurrence well below p < 0.001, or 0.1% threshold. Moderna is more likely of the two to produce symptoms.

New Study Provides Reassuring Data on Myocarditis Heart Condition After mRNA COVID Vaccination

"For example, of 3,482,295 individuals vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech, 48 developed myocarditis or myopericarditis within 28 days of vaccination (an absolute rate of 1.4 per 100,000) compared with unvaccinated individuals.

Among women, the absolute rate was 1.3 per 100,000 and in men it was 1.5 per 100,000. Among 12-39 year olds, the absolute rate was 1.6 per 100,000, and in the youngest age group (12-17 year olds) it was only 1 per 100,000 within 28 days of receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine."

Okay. So what is the death rate for people from the omicron variant in the 12-39 year old group? Context matters.

And why the 28-day limit?
EDIT:
18,573,488 cases in the US in that age group.
19,580 (roughly) deaths in that age group.
.105% chance of death from COVID in that age group.

I think this is even high as it is based on known/tested cases only.

EDIT 2: it gets real fun if you factor in that COVID cases are under reported. Some sites say 3x (Study: COVID Cases Have Been ‘Severely Undercounted’), some say 2x (US COVID cases likely more than double official count, experts say, and a few studies are way way higher (Data suggest COVID-19 affected numbers greatly exceeded detected numbers, in four European countries, as per a delayed SEIQR model | Scientific Reports).

So let's say we're at 3x cases:
55,720,464 cases.
Since deaths aren't common and they're tracking those very tightly I think keeping it close to the same is fine, maybe 21k deaths? I doubt there are even 2k uncounted COVID deaths in this age but oh well.
.037% chance of death at that math.

Just a question for those that claim they had the covid omicron variant, how do you know? Is the government testing people for the specific covid variant?
Well we went from it being discovered in Africa to having 76% of our cases deemed omicron in 4 weeks. We must be sending an awful lot of samples to state and university labs or they are just making crap up at this point.

Both of my kids (two doses of Pfizer; one in November and one in early December) caught omicron. One stayed completely asymptomatic. The other had low grade fever (99-100) for two days and some sniffles. Both are now back to normal. I (thrice jabbed with Pfizer) stayed negative throughout, despite quarantining and caring for them. Pretty damn happy with the vaccine performance. I know several people who didn't get the booster and are getting b*tch-slapped by omicron. Not hospitalized, but miserable for a few days.
Glad all are well now! Merry Christmas.

My wife just blew through COVID in a couple days with just a fever and fatigue, same as the friend of ours (vaxxed) that caught it.

I tested negative but find it dubious that I don't have it. Dad thinks my minor symptoms may be antibodies firing back up to kill it off- he and I both think I had it before it was popular.
Trend setter.

Good thing there's ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine,Regeneron and numerous other Proven therapeutics. Take your bleating and fear mongering somewhere else Alfred.. we ain't buying that BS
Ivermectin, you still believe that?

If Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and Cedars-Sinai aren't using it, you might want to tamp down your enthusiasm for it.

Good for you....I've not been vaxxed. I caught covid early on last year, nothing major for me. Apparantly natural immunity works for me. My wife caught covid 6 months ago. (She never got tested but she lost her taste so we new it was covid). We still slept in the same bed the entire time she was sick and I never caught what she had. While being vaxxed might help you, it's almost comical how some people just dismiss natural immunity like it suddenly doesn't exist.

That's old science.... before March 2020.

Maryland officials advise health care providers to conserve monoclonal antibody treatments

Bad news for the anti-vaxx depending on a rescue from antibody treatment

Maryland officials are telling health care providers to preserve monoclonal antibody treatments after the federal government discovered that a portion of the approved therapies do not protect against the COVID-19 omicron variant.

So wait, so "a portion" of them being ineffective is justification for the state government to control access to the treatment?

How effective have the vaccines and boosters been to omicron? Can we expect a similar action for the jabs?

If these clinics are saying it's not to use these treatments, there is a good bet it's safe. I don't trust these liberal colleges to make decisions about my healthcare anymore than I do about my politics.
