Because it's literally what determines severity. What else are you basing severity on?

Besides location? Because you care a whole heck of a lot when it's a Florida hospital.

Inherent severity vs. relative severity. A punch of a certain force may kill a baby but hardly do anything to a professional boxer. I'm making a very simple (and accurate) point that SIMPLY comparing hospitalizations and deaths between waves is not an apples to apples comparison and can mislead about inherent severity. You guys really struggle with fine distinctions.

We’re not struggling with anything cat turd were simply mocking your selective parsing you do to fit your dumbazz narrative of the moment just like you always do. 🤡

Rate of infection is clearly much higher with omicron while risk of hospitalization or severe outcome is clearly greatly diminished. Just like it’s supposed to do as the virus progresses to endemic status. And there’s no amount of dumb 💩 parsing you can do to spin that otherwise.

So how would you define apples to apples then? Because I thought you were anti herd immunity? But now suddenly it exists?

Hospitalizations or deaths or whatever, as long as the metric stays the same it's a fair comparison.

Under your considerations comparing different parts of the same wave couldnt be apples to apples either because of the same issue.

Translation: We really want to totally control your lives but we’re bloody freaking terrified of you if we take your Pubs away.
Bread, circuses and beer...

I know the usual saying is just bread and circuses, but you can't leave out alcohol/drugs or something to take you away from reality or ease your mind.

If they outlaw beer... chaos.
