Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Why do we keep reporting new cases of covid? We could have 40 million a day, and it doesn't mean squat unless people are getting deathly ill. When I actually know someone that ends up in the hospital from covid, I might give it more credence. In nearly 2 years of this, my county has had around 250 deaths "reported" from covid. 250 out of over 100k in 2 years isn't exactly worrisome in my eyes.

250 sounds about right.

Knox county right at a 1000 for almost 2 years. I think a population roughly 500,000.

I didn't bother with the rest

I’ve been on here a long time and I’m having a hard time remembering anybody ( including EL) getting busted for posting so many misleading or just outright agenda driven crap articles as Mad has.

It’s absolutely crazy. At the rate this thing is going, we’ll be on the downslope of Omicron by the time January hits.
Did you see what the health office in DC said?

"Bowser’s announcement comes as the D.C. region is experiencing a spike in coronavirus cases leading up to the holidays. Patrick Ashley, with DC Health, said the city hasn’t seen a spike in hospitalizations despite the uptick in cases."

But we need to specifically limit things for the young people that are catching it, getting immune, and having no issues.

It is hard to do an apples to apples comparison because each wave (1) wipes out much of the lowest hanging fruit at that time, and (2) confers some level of protection on those that heal up after an infection.
That’s stupid as hell. There is plenty of data now to show that Omicron is the least dangerous variant yet as far as hospitalization and deaths even with the higher transmission rate. It’s almost like the virus is plodding away towards the inevitable endemic state.

Oh what will you do to keep the masses under control and try to find some way to keep the idiot in the WH propped up in a few months dumbazz cat lady? 🤡

F that little man. I'll be spending this Christmas with a combination of older folks (me and my siblings) my kids, nieces and nephews and grandkids. Last I checked, my kids aren't vaxxed and either are any of my grandkids. Fauci can quadruple up on masks and shove 6 gallons of Pfizers vaccine up his arse as far as I'm concerned. He's past his expiration date.

Trying to determine inherent severity by simply comparing hospitalizations and deaths between different waves is not an "apples to apples" comparison for the reasons I listed (and others). Do you contend it is, in fact, an apples to apples comparison? If so, why do believe that?

The omicron data speaks for itself. It is already the predominant strain in the US and UK and the severity is clearly diminished as compared to previous strains. What have you clueless rubes got lined up on deck next to control the masses and prop up the idiot in chief, cat lady? 🤡

Because it's literally what determines severity. What else are you basing severity on?

Besides location? Because you care a whole heck of a lot when it's a Florida hospital.
