Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

We're at a point where the government is doing nothing but dividing people and cherry picking science and getting really pissy when called out for it.

Individuals have choices to make. There no additional program or remedy the federal government can take at this point that will increase the rate of improvement among our citizens.
What does that have to do with the pandemic being over or not?
If I can’t get into the hospital for an elective surgery because it’s full of Covid patients, is that normal?

But the pandemic is not over, that’s the problem.

For example….

Sorry man, it is over. I'm pretty certain that we have nearly 100% of the country either vaccinated or naturally immune due to a previous infection. The ones that die from here on are part of natures plan. Let it go and move on with your life.

I agree with you, testing isn’t great, buts it shouldn’t be all or nothing, the answer isn’t to stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist, that’s what it feels like Desantis is trying to do.

I disagree. It should be. You propose to test me for a particular virus with a test that can't differentiate viruses, and then try to tell me I have the virus, which I may not, and that I have to end my life for 10 days. So what if you try to tell me I tested positive? For what exactly? Covid-19 specifically? A different Covid? The common cold, flu, Rhino or other Corona viruses will false positive in a Covid-19 test. If I test positive, there's truly less than 20% chance I actually could have Covid-19. I'm prone to Rhino. A similar upper respiratory that can and will make you feel not so great with a long nagging cough the best of prescriptions don't alleviate. A SARS2 test is not specific for targeting only Covid-19 detection and it's variants. It already existed before CV19. If I feel like a school bus took me out, and I tested positive, so be it. Flu or CV19, I'm down for a bit either way. But, if I have a bit of congestion, only a little uncomfortable, not much of a cough...and you tell me I tested positive, I ain't buying it.

I am living my life, but you can’t just declare the pandemic is over because you are tired of it, doesn’t work like that.

Key word "elective" surgery. Anything elective will always take a back seat to anything else. It doesn't have to be covid patients. half of which are flu patients in disguise.

Been to Tampa once. I can think of many reasons one would be sick and in hospital around there. Going to Tampa General just makes it worse.

Tampa General in one of the top two hospitals in Florida.
Try again.

How many of those hospitals are understaffed due to the mandate?

ALL

Washington State cannot keep roads snowplowed because they fired all the unvaxed. So there roads are closing left and right out in the snow regions of the state. I think I've seen where maybe some hospitals are having the oh s**t moment and realized the medical personnel weren't intimidated and are hiring some back ??

From your 1st link:

The announcement comes after the Baker administration ordered hospitals to reduce elective surgeries by 50% on Dec. 10 amid a critical staffing crunch — ratcheting up a Nov. 30 order that urged hospitals to limit voluntary procedures by 30%.

From your second:

“A spike in COVID-19 cases, other seasonal illnesses and the many health needs of our communities, coupled with unprecedented workforce constraints have come together to create a perfect storm for healthcare providers,” said Dr. Sarah Arnett, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at TidalHealth.

I didn't bother with the rest

This is excellent news, there are studies out of South Africa saying the risk of being hospitalized is much lower with omicron than delta. But their studies do show, there isn’t much difference in the severity in that population of the ones that are hospitalized with omicron or delta.
Hope we have the same results here.

More good news.

Fingers crossed 🤞

They stop short of defining the end of the pandemic. What does that mean? We will still have more variants next year. We'll still have hospitalizations. I think the pandemic ended 6 months ago

It is hard to do an apples to apples comparison because each wave (1) wipes out much of the lowest hanging fruit at that time, and (2) confers some level of protection on those that heal up after an infection.

Biden actually said something good about Trump:

"I got my booster shot as soon as they were available," Biden said during a speech from the White House about his administration's efforts to address the Omicron variant of Covid-19, adding, "and just the other day former President Trump announced he had gotten his booster shot."

"It may be one of the few things he and I agree on," Biden continued. "People with booster shots are highly protected. Join them. Join us."

During Tuesday's speech, Biden also praised the Trump administration for its efforts to develop a Covid-19 vaccine before he took office.

"Let me be clear. Thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, America was one of the first countries to get the vaccine," Biden said. "Thanks to my administration and the hard work of Americans, we led a roll out, made America among the world leaders in getting shots in arms."

President Biden offers rare praise of former President Trump during Covid speech

He's more reasonable than some of the libs here on VN. Think about that
