The wife and I had the same symptoms about 3 weeks ago, she had a low grade fever too. We just chalked it up to a normal cold.

So I've been wondering why are people going to get tested even of they have symptoms?

I had the virus (I think) a year ago this coming week (I was stuffed up and lost taste and smell for a week and a half) I never got tested and I never went to the doctor.

What really would have been the point of me getting tested?

At this point, I think the logical reasons to test would be for treatment purposes (monoclonal ab, soon-available oral antiviral) for the high-risk and for quarantine/work/school restrictions.

Not the office bill, but the tests are also provided free of charge.

Well, in my own case, my father is 90 years old with COPD. We are all vaccinated and boosted and wear masks still when visiting because if he gets even a mild case he likely would not survive it. So whenever any of us kids goes to visit him we take a rapid test before going inside.

He's definitely running for POTUS because I can tell you that down here, with the elderly population we have, all of these little slights he puts out to dealing with the virus could come back to haunt him in a run for reelection.

My daughter asked her 91 yr old grandmother about covid-19 and her answer to my daughter was:

"Well, if I get it then that's the end of Granny"

In other words, at that age, something will get me. Whatever
