Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

My daughter asked her 91 yr old grandmother about covid-19 and her answer to my daughter was:

"Well, if I get it then that's the end of Granny"

In other words, at that age, something will get me. Whatever

Nice knowing you granny. Time for the attestupa for you, because I'll be buggered if I have to undergo a minor inconvenience.

You missed the point. This is Granny's attitude. Maybe if you reach 91, you'll understand the idea that it's not a lot of fun and you don't wanna live forever. Last year we saw all grandparents, age 85-91, for the holidays and they were very glad we did

Some people live in a perpetual state of fear

So I've been wondering why are people going to get tested even of they have symptoms?

I had the virus (I think) a year ago this coming week (I was stuffed up and lost taste and smell for a week and a half) I never got tested and I never went to the doctor.

What really would have been the point of me getting tested?🤔

This is my viewpoint. Not a single person in my family has been tested. I don't need a freaking test to tell me if I'm sick. By golly if I feel too sick to go to work I'll stay home.

This is excellent news, there are studies out of South Africa saying the risk of being hospitalized is much lower with omicron than delta. But their studies do show, there isn’t much difference in the severity in that population of the ones that are hospitalized with omicron or delta.
Hope we have the same results here.

More good news.

WHO forecasts coronavirus pandemic will end in 2022

Fingers crossed 🤞

At this point, I think the logical reasons to test would be for treatment purposes (monoclonal ab, soon-available oral antiviral) for the high-risk and for quarantine/work/school restrictions.
Sounding like that option might be a somewhat limited with the omicron variant.

'Dominant' omicron forces change in Minnesota's COVID-19 monoclonal antibody strategy

Minnesota is changing its COVID-19 treatment recommendations in response to the threat of the omicron coronavirus variant, suspending the use of two monoclonal antibody therapies and conserving a third for the highest-risk cases.

The announcement in a memo to providers this week follows research indicating that two of three monoclonal antibody infusions — Eli Lilly's bamlanivimab/etesevimab and Regeneron's casirivimab/imdevimab — aren't as effective against COVID-19 cases caused by omicron.

And we're still the lowest in the country 😆 cases don't equate to deaths or hospitalizations, way to many false positives due to a flawed PCR test that the inventor said was not effective for testing Covid
It’s hard to know the deaths when they aren’t reported.

Great news! That state is a shithole permeated with liberal scum. This is further proof the left doesn't believe in Real Science

It's hard to know the actual deaths when the virus test can't tell you if you have covid or influenza.
I agree with you, testing isn’t great, buts it shouldn’t be all or nothing, the answer isn’t to stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist, that’s what it feels like Desantis is trying to do.

I think what he's trying to say is that this pandemic is over, and it's time to get back to normalcy. If the government would just get out of everyone's way and supply treatments and vaccines and STFU we'll be a lot better as a country.

But the pandemic is not over, that’s the problem.

We're at a point where the government is doing nothing but dividing people and cherry picking science and getting really pissy when called out for it.

Individuals have choices to make. There no additional program or remedy the federal government can take at this point that will increase the rate of improvement among our citizens.
