So I've been wondering why are people going to get tested even of they have symptoms?

I had the virus (I think) a year ago this coming week (I was stuffed up and lost taste and smell for a week and a half) I never got tested and I never went to the doctor.

What really would have been the point of me getting tested?

This is my viewpoint. Not a single person in my family has been tested. I don't need a freaking test to tell me if I'm sick. By golly if I feel too sick to go to work I'll stay home.

This is excellent news, there are studies out of South Africa saying the risk of being hospitalized is much lower with omicron than delta. But their studies do show, there isn’t much difference in the severity in that population of the ones that are hospitalized with omicron or delta.

At this point, I think the logical reasons to test would be for treatment purposes (monoclonal ab, soon-available oral antiviral) for the high-risk and for quarantine/work/school restrictions.

Sounding like that option might be a somewhat limited with the omicron variant.

I agree with you, testing isn’t great, buts it shouldn’t be all or nothing, the answer isn’t to stick your head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist, that’s what it feels like Desantis is trying to do.

I think what he's trying to say is that this pandemic is over, and it's time to get back to normalcy. If the government would just get out of everyone's way and supply treatments and vaccines and STFU we'll be a lot better as a country.

Individuals have choices to make. There no additional program or remedy the federal government can take at this point that will increase the rate of improvement among our citizens.
