Respectfully disagree but to each their own.
Maybe not. But still, the guy has zero pressure/expectations and will always get a rousing ovation in neyland. And it’s nice for guys like me, who grew up watching his dad, as a reminder of the emotional connection we have to the program. But he’s never going to play though. Surly he knows this right?
Yes! An incredible blend of athleticism, speed, and quickness. He could throw a football through a brick wall if needed, or lay it out there with touch. I liked watching him play more than any other UT QB ever just because he was so multi-gifted.HE probably didn't live in Shuler's Day. That guy was an awesome specimen. With the right Coaching, and staying his Senior year, God only knows how Great Heath Shuler would have been. All the others mentioned had their limitations. Shuler had none----IMO.
I’ve been going to games since the 70s. Shuler was good QB in a great system but didn’t accomplish much and then left too soon and stunk it up as a bustHE probably didn't live in Shuler's Day. Hard to see the pretty face when you're focused on the big red zit on the forehead I guess.Hey Rylee, yeah, JohnD is ridiculous for not seeing the "feel good" side of this story, but c'mon, don't group "our fans suck" into the entire fanbase. We have the best, most tolerant, most loyal fans in the nation, 2nd to none.
Heath needed an extra year but couldn't turn down the $$$. He wasn't a trust fund kid. Norv Turner and holding out at the direction of his agent pretty well set him up to fail. He needed an Aaron Rodgers type scenario with time to develop. He would have not matched Peyton's NFL career but would have most likely been much more successful than the way things played out.Heisman means nothing. Top 5 bust and Dobbs and Bray played on NFL longer
Very true, plus some injuries set him back significantly. Norv Turner was also a significant detriment, as you mentioned.Heath needed an extra year but couldn't turn down the $$$. And I’ll bet he’s a lot more accurate than MiltonWell, he was a 3 star, but the star level has nothing to do with the excitement. If not for Peyton, Heath Shuler would be known as one of the most popular QBs to ever play at TN. (The older fans remember how much excitement he brought to the program.) We will want Peyton's kids at TN no matter the talent level, and Navy falls into that same category if you were a fan who watched Heath play at TN. Doesn't mean you expect him to come in and take the program to the next level or even ever start.
