Sounds like he's just trying to keep the prying eyes of the NCAA away from campus
You think lowly Jackson St has the support and NiL structures to match FSU? I really doubt it, but I guess you never know.

I think a kid decided to go to a HBCU to, as he said, light a torch and a path for others. Exactly what Deion has been doing this whole time.

Starts about 12:27 or so
“I love Tennessee. My Family’s there and I grew up obviously a huge Tennessee fan and wanted to play at Tennessee but wasn’t good enough so I love the state of Tennessee I mean I grew up a Volunteer and that place means alot to me” - Coastal Coach Jamey Chadwell
Good luck tonight in the bowl game Coach Chadwell!

I appreciate the intent behind this GIF, but it’s like when I watch medical shows and they ALWAYS hang the x-rays incorrectly, I get so exasperated. 🤣

So for specificity sake, it reads “Ilium, Ilium, Hooray!”

Sorry…had to do it. IB4 nerd alert!

No one is saying these kids shouldn’t be making some money on NIL.. The problem is with how the rules currently are, the school with the richest alumni have an advantage over everyone else when it comes to recruiting. It needs to be limited in some way or the sport is just illegitimate.

That isn’t new though. And I don’t mean bag money. The schools with the richest donors have always had the advantage. Richer donors = better facilities and more access to private planes to let coaches travel easier.

Screw that.. they are not and were never meant to be "employees".
We weren't meant to be, but they've already gotten to that point, and that was the ruling the Supreme Court made. At some point we have to accept that they're employees offering a service that makes their employer money, and should be compensated by their employer for that beyond the cost of school.

That's cool On3 shows distance from their hometown to each school. 7 miles from UCLA (beautiful campus btw 👀) but imagine being them and pretty much knowing he'll end up 1,000+ miles away oof 😆
[ Iamaleava pun withdrawn on grounds of staleness.]

I casually watch the NFL, but I invest heavily in college. Something I'm willing to do to provide a benefit to kids that otherwise wouldn't be able to attend college. When college ball is nothing more than NFL-lite, I doubt there will be as much incentive to donate. NIL and the portal have substantially degraded the emphasis on the school and have turned kids into mercenaries, just like their overpaid coaches. And yes, that will have (and already is having) a negative effect on college ball, and it's just starting.

The largest stadiums are college stadiums, not pro. The more college becomes like pro, the emptier the stadiums will be.

I don't begrudge college kids making money. I do resent my favorite hobby morphing into something I no longer love.
you really think most college football fans are fans out of altruism to help kids get an education?
Fandom in college is greater than pros in some places (not all places) because of alimni bases, not because we hate that pro players actually get paid for their services.

I don't understand it either both them and UGA have 26 currently signed and are leading for more elite kids to sign. I just don't understand how the numbers work, I thought the SEC had a 25 cap on new signings.
All of NCAA - but you can backcount and there's still some potential to blueshirt, but it's wonky.

Fwiw uga only has 23 signees so far. 3 commits unsigned.

And either one could take up to 32 (signed HS recruits) if they already had enough outgoing transfers.

Deion is close with Dave Portnoy. He went for 1.5 milly. Nothing else to it

like that doesn't happen already?
Not it mid season it doesn’t……and in pro football there are no fully guaranteed contracts. You get hurt……bye

I’ll be always been in favor of some extra money for all college athletes , but this is only going to get worse.

Fans vs donors. There is zero chance I'd drop 5 figures annually on pro ball, but I do so for college ball. You may believe whatever you like, but I promise you I am not alone in my view.
