That’s a great point. I also have a maybe unpopular opinion… every team should be eligible for a bowl game. If we’re serious about equal playing fields, then let everyone have those extra 15 practices.

Now, I’m not oblivious to the trouble with why anyone would want, for instance, Andy, to come to their town… but I yield.

Maybe allow practices on campus, bowl game or not, for that matter.
No. Let everyone practice. But we don't need more bowls

I've said in the past to cut each athlete a check for everything they get (tuition, R&B, clothing, tutors, food, books, heath care, nutrition experts, weight training, etc.....) plus extra, and let them then pay for it and get taxed.................
That will show them exactly how much free crap they have been getting.
Do nfl teams include nutrition, health care, weight training in lieu of a salary? And who says these kids even want to go to college? Why should they be forced to? The whole system is beyond ludicrous. Nowhere else in the world do you see it.

And that check (without the extra cash) would still be less than what they deserve.

I'll never understand the animosity toward kids/anyone who thinks this barter system is stupid. "That will show them..." Really? Why are you so passionate about making sure a bunch of bureaucrats and administrators and coaches get the vast majority of the money instead of the kids who are the ones really earning it? It just blows my mind that people say things like" those kids should be grateful for that tuition." Why would you side with a bunch of rich administrators over hard working talented kids? That's basically the royalty mentality. It's just so un-American.

The NIL money doesn’t come out of the Schools or NCAA’s pocket either, sooooo…
But the propaganda for decades has been that the sport will die if the kids make money (or as they put it, cease to be amateurs). "These kids not making money and instead the NCAA and school admins making a fortune is what makes college football great."

This NIL shite is complete chaos. Free agency with no salary cap.

A&M should have finished 7-5 if it weren’t for that miracle win against bama, yet they could possibly have the greatest recruiting class of all time.

There’s speculation the NCAA is content with the current NIL chaos. The coaches and administrators complain and the NCAA will gladly step in and offer help “regulating” the deals. For a small fee of course, and by small I mean large and full of rules.

That's hilarious... of course he is going to say that with the potential hot water A&M is already in with NIL... okay bud, so you'd like to fight for playing time with an already stacked and packed DT room, or play for a proven successful position coach and potentially be a starter day one where your family can ride down the street and support you every Saturday? Okay.....
It was 100% about the money.

Bet his family moves with him.

He could at least hang with him and win a big one occasionally. He was getting totally dominated and blown out by Meyer and Saban.
He beat saban two out of three times at LSU…. The one loss was a big one though…. He lost by 1 to Meyer his first year….. 2007 was a blow out to both coaches…. 2008 was blowouts but also the year he was forced to hire clawson and the year he got fired…. He probably could have competed with Meyer bc Meyer started declining before his heart issues took place…. Nobody has really competed with Saban besides an occasional lapse by his teams…. I do feel it was time to move on from Phil though….. just wish we had stronger leadership that could have handled the program better.

We better come in tomorrow fired up, not intimidated, and play confident until the whistle... We do this consistently throughout the game, we'll get the W....if we don't, and get intimidated (Penny will have them fired up and trying to push our buttons) and play tight and scared/conservative (which we have done in the past many times) then Memphis will embarrass us... Coming off the big win against Bama, they will be primed and confident to whip our arses... We have as much talent, it will all be about the mindset and mental toughness, the mental game... And unfortunately that's the only knock I have on Barnes and his inability to have his teams mentally ready in big games... We shall see... GBO!!

And if Jimbo ever goes 8-4 again he’s gone. I think the big NIL schools give the coaches a half life if they don’t succeed. His terms were just changed, not sure if he knows it though….

smh……
if they don’t preform…..cut their A$$. Just like the pros.

I just don’t understand why anyone is still against allowing someone to profit off their name. Imagine you’re fresh out of HS get a job, and try to start a little side hustle on the weekends and the company you work for penalizes you for it

You’re selling ownership of your name to be able to play a sport….

I casually watch the NFL, but I invest heavily in college. Something I'm willing to do to provide a benefit to kids that otherwise wouldn't be able to attend college. When college ball is nothing more than NFL-lite, I doubt there will be as much incentive to donate. NIL and the portal have substantially degraded the emphasis on the school and have turned kids into mercenaries, just like their overpaid coaches. And yes, that will have (and already is having) a negative effect on college ball, and it's just starting.

The largest stadiums are college stadiums, not pro. The more college becomes like pro, the emptier the stadiums will be.

I don't begrudge college kids making money. I do resent my favorite hobby morphing into something I no longer love.

Negative. The NCAA lost a lawsuit specifically about regulating NIL which is why the rules against it were lifted. The NEXT lawsuit is former players suing the NCAA (and the schools in the NCAA) because they illegally regulated NIL for years and those players missed out on deals and money.

The NCAA and schools can't do squat about NIL and may end up with a big class action lawsuit.

This is so stupid haha Georgia’s class is absolutely elite. That’s all that can be said about that. Averaging a freaking 93 a player is insane. They are not going down at all
Until you realize their #1 class was a full 1.5 points higher lol. And being 2-2.5 pts behind your #1 competitor isn't good.

All these classes are relative. Obviously their class is very very good compared to most, but NOT compared to the top 3. That's my point. Being 2-2.5 points behind multiple teams is a step back. You can believe it or not, but that is just a simple fact.
