President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

What a ****ing moron statement stolen at that

All of his lines that he can remember are stolen. He has no original ideas. He wants to be someone else who was great through history. When he says it it never sounds like the original and if it was originally said like he sounds then it would be an unmemorable line. It's like a funny joke that's repeated by someone terrible at telling jokes. Just ruins it.

Kyrsten Sinema Comes Flying in off the Top Rope After Democrats Surrender on 'Build Back Better'

It has not been a good couple of days for Democrats. Two days ago, the 5th Circuit delivered a stunning rebuke of the Biden administration, denying their appeal of Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. Yesterday, Adam Schiff got caught doctoring text messages during a January 6th committee hearing. Then today, the thermonuclear bomb went off.

Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda was officially shelved after an agreement with Joe Manchin couldn’t be reached. On that note, my prediction that Manchin would stall things out into next year proved correct, and I still believe his ultimate goal is to kill it entirely in the softest way possible.

Of course, the Democrats needed an excuse for why they were punting on the president’s chief policy priority, and some overpaid consultants settled on “voting rights.” Sure, everyone who is legally entitled to voting rights already has them, but when you’ve got nothing else, you’ve got nothing else.

Well, that great hope lasted for all of a few hours. Kyrsten Sinema has now come flying in off the top rope, destroying any hope that Democrats can pass a federal takeover of the country’s elections.

I still think she's kinkier than rolled-up barbed wire.

Scathing article with a blow that landed right on the chin.

I read this article. Here are the basics:

163k in debt for an unfinished masters degree in teaching from Columbia University

Her original loan amount (according to her) was 1/3 of this, so around 55k

Currently holds a 6 figure job but is living paycheck to paycheck

Monthly payment on student loan of $400, which I find really hard to believe given the balance on the debt

Has been in deferral for past two years due to COVID

Doesn’t know how she is going to start making payments again in Feb

My Take:

For the loan to triple in size, she has likely been deferring this for decades. If she’s living paycheck to paycheck on a 6 figure salary, she’s likely carrying a lot of revolving debt. She says she is leaving the Democratic Party because Biden failed to forgive her 163k debt, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t include accrued interest. Also guessing this women will continue to vote Democrat.
The best way for women to pay off student debt is for them to get married. I've seen 3 coworkers of mine do this for their fiances/wives in the last decade. Each of the debts were over $20k a piece.

How would you like to be that 35 year old that just made your last loan debt payment just to watch your coffee server at S'bucks get his PhD loan completely forgiven?
No different than how I feel about the same Starbucks barista getting $6k in "earned income credit" while I'm paying several times that in income taxes.

That isn't a reason to not have student loan relief.

I didn't sign for the debt. Why should I pay it for them?
You won't be paying for it. They are just going to either default (highly unlikely) or print more money and hyperinflate the currency (most likely). And it's interesting that the little $1-1.5 trillion in student loan debt or whatever it is right now seems to irritate people, but they don't bristle too much about all of the debt the DoD has run up in the last two decades in the Middle East. Most people didn't sign up for that debt, either.

I say again, these banks and the politicians are going to hold these people's feet to the fire and make them accountable for decisions they made when they were 18-21 years old, yet the people in Washington DC in their 40s and older that waste multiple times more money are allowed to walk the streets with no worries.

This country isn't going broke and sitting at close to $30 trillion in on book debt because of student loans. GTFOH...

So your solution to developing a more fiscally responsible nation would start by rewarding the behavior of irresponsible financial decision making.

Im all for the loan forgiveness as long as those who paid thiers off get thier money back...

Just curious, but usually, the lender has some risk and/or accountability whenever they are issuing loans. There is the risk that if they loan out to a risky borrower, that the borrower could default. What accountability does the govt or the banks/lenders have in helping to create this mess? Lending tens of thousands of dollars to liberal arts majors isn't a wise move on their part. Those loans should have never been granted.

That won't happen and you know it.

I've had all of my schooling paid off for over 15 years and I don't share the same emotional trauma that some of you all do over this. I don't feel entitled to getting my money back just because these guys might be getting forgiveness. Is it a sh^try deal? I agree. But as a taxpayer in this country, I'm used to getting screwed on things every day. Why would/should this one issue in particular get people's panties in a bunch?

Absolutely true. The .gov needs to get out of the college loan business.
