It just seems to me that the people that are saying "we look weak" need to be more clear on what their definition of "looking strong" is, because I fear "looking strong" will end up being some military action in a far flung place that is of no real strategic significance or benefit to the average American on Main Street USA.
Looks like another incentive to NOT work will hopefully be eliminated soon.
Child Tax Credit: Families get their last payment as its future remains uncertain
I didn't even need to know the details. Unless you're becoming a high powered doctor or lawyer (and it's still debatable even in those scenarios), you're an idiot for incurring $163K in student debt. Deferring payments forever is a quick way to accomplish that feat.I read this article. Here are the basics:
163k in debt for an unfinished masters degree in teaching from Columbia University
Her original loan amount (according to her) was 1/3 of this, so around 55k
Currently holds a 6 figure job but is living paycheck to paycheck
Monthly payment on student loan of $400, which I find really hard to believe given the balance on the debt
Has been in deferral for past two years due to COVID
Doesn’t know how she is going to start making payments again in Feb
My Take:
For the loan to triple in size, she has likely been deferring this for decades. If she’s living paycheck to paycheck on a 6 figure salary, she’s likely carrying a lot of revolving debt. She says she is leaving the Democratic Party because Biden failed to forgive her 163k debt, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t include accrued interest. Also guessing this women will continue to vote Democrat.
DC_Vol, as you and I both know, there is no chance in hell most taxpayers realize that. In about February, we'll start hearing the liberals whine about these poor souls that were taken advantage of and how we need to give them an additional stimulus payment because now they aren't getting their normal big refund.I hope all these people realize it’s a forward payment of the tax “refund” they receive. There are doing to be some disappointed people in April.
Here ya go...

I’m glad to hear it wasn’t an accounting, finance, or general business degree!I read this article. Here are the basics:

$55K loan for a Masters in Education. That seems like an incredibly poor decision. She then apparently chose to defer payment forever - yet another fantastic decision. I can only imagine that hitting the PowerBall was her anticipated method of paying off that loan balance.I’d hope she wouldn’t have accumulated a loan that large or the university conferring the degree should revoke it
And this idiot is going to be a teacher!$55K loan for a Masters in Education. That seems like an incredibly poor decision. We are in Okinawa for entirely different reasons and besides Japan doesn't need us if there weren't other agreements in place that they are limited militarily. We don't have a base in Taiwan that I'm aware of.
'Let's go Brandon!': Biden is Jeered as he surveys tornado damage in Kentucky after twisters ripped through four states killing at least 88 people and leaving thousands still without water or power
President Biden arrived at the epicenter of Kentucky's tornado damage on Wednesday to be greeted by jeers of 'Let's go Brandon' before promising to meet the costs of the state's first 30 days of emergency work.
The greeting, which is supposed to stand in for 'f*** Joe Biden,' was a reminder that this corner of Kentucky is deep red, and voted overwhelmingly for former President Donald Trump in the election last year.
But the president paid no attention as he toured a downtown reduced to mounds of rubble and piles of logs by tornadoes five days ago. The death toll in Kentucky stands at 74 - but is expected to rise higher - and another 14 people are reported dead in three other states.
