The biggest issue with college ball (and sports in general) is you are cutting off the fans. Fans used to be emotionally invested and had pride in their teams. You can't as a fan anymore. You have to constantly remind yourself this is not your life, not your decision, and it has nothing to do with you. You have no say and never have. I just hit 50 and am seriously questioning why I spent all these years even watching at this point? What was the point? IDK? It used to be fun.

That's the world in general now tho. Nothings fun anymore. It's all just me, me, me... look a at me. What about me. pay attention to me. People are getting rich sitting on their ass as influencers. convincing others of things that are not true. That's their job. Everyone just wants to feel special, and will pay big money to feel that way, even if its fake. Take what you can get, because it has changed. Nobody knows how it will end, but one day California will drop in the ocean and humanity will have to deal wiih each other again. Maybe we'll learn how to have fun again.
What do you have against Cali ?

Instead of pocketing out cash from the offering plates at mega churches (Clemson), in McDonalds bags (TN), with debit cards at casinos (Auburn), new cars (Bama, OSU), the money is out in the open.

Don’t act like this hasn’t been happening for decades.

I’m about tired of hearing the pearl clutching. Quit whining. Quit acting high and mighty. Get your head out of the sand.

V, B
You miss the entire points made above. Nobody said cheating was not and, by the way, still is happening. My guess is you never will understand. It is about more than money or even football. Maybe you need to get over yourself.

Why don't you opine about 79th in the country in recruiting - 6 non kickers committed with a day to go prior to early signing.
Looks like you live on this board and I have never put anyone on ignore - if you have " useful " input or opinions weigh in -
if you are just on here to give people grief or critique UT fans, players, coaches - it would seem you have bigger fish to fry back home.

How often do you post on the Florida sites ?

I post on about 3-4 sites, and I moderate a private CFB message board with fans of about a half dozen schools. I rarely post on GC because echo chambers are boring, but I do lurk and post there occasionally for recruiting updates and other news.

I post on VN because it’s one of the best, if not the best CFB message board going…Tiger Droppings is solid as well.

As a UF fan posting an opinion on this particular message board, I apologize for triggering you. I’ll be mindful to take into account your fragile sensibilities in the future.

Regarding your insistence that I opine about the state of UF’s program, here goes…….0-12. We may never win another football game in my lifetime. It was a great run.

Nah, we enjoy reading your jort "know it all" mentality. It just reminds us of how delusional gator fans are. Always telling people what to do. Must be a jort democrat.

As I think about the future of college football, Oregon may have the winning idea. They have one mega booster, Phil Knight, who is essentially a team owner and has the final word on almost everything.

Our problem and lots of school's problem has been a divided team ownership of boosters mucking things up and squabbling over coaches, leadership, etc.

Successful teams are going to have an organized set of boosters, not infighting and ego driven to get their way, to be successful. Randy Boyd has dealt with this as a team owner/investor. I'm hoping he sees that a pro model will be successful, not the good ol boy network of the past.

I just get tired of the talk about how football is being ruined and how terrible todays players are—spooled and all about me, me, me. I think that some fans think college football is all about them, them, them (the fan).
Football should be about the student/players first, IMO. Theif fellow students should be next. Fans should rank 3rd or 4th or on down on the list. Colleges see all this money they can make off the fans and have put fans first and have made the players just a means to the goal of making money. The transfer rule and NIL is just giving the player some options.

What is SPOOLED? Not familiar with that term.

Coach Prime rarely attended class at FSU, and Jackson State got some talented players from the transfer portal.

That tweet is about as hypocritical as it gets.
You are exactly right. A friend of mine had classes with DS. He tells me one day he comes walking into class when it was almost over. The professor says to him “just who do you think you are.” DS lowers his sunglasses as says “Primetime.” He said it was the only time he saw DS the whole semester.

I wonder what the prevailing thought was when colleges started offering scholarships to people who were good at sports. I'm sure fans of the sport (however few there were) melted down and thought the sport was done.

I get tired of all the virtue signaling covering up terrible ideas. Fans are 3rd of 4th? See how long the sport lasts without them. I bet you're one of those people who didn't think defunding the police would lead to a rise in crime or that printing trillions of dollars in extra cash would lead to inflation. The sport is sick. Our society is sick. Coach Prime knows what I'm talking about.

ROFL....Sanders saying all that is about the biggest pot calling the kettle black I can ever think of. The dude that is 100% always been about HIM is trying to say all that. GTFO.

I got an idea....stop watching and stop bitching about it on a messageboard if it hurts your feelings so much. No one is stopping you buttercup, you are volunteering to go through this misery.

JFC some of you are the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen, and I'm laughing my ass off that you're sitting here pissing and moaning about how everyone is selfish and about them and you're doing so because YOU aren't getting what you want.

I have no idea why you even bother responding to some of these mouth-breathers anymore. I mean if out of the gate they are "GET OFF OUR BOARD gator!", seems like they've already proven they're out of bullets and throwing the gun.

If you need to constantly remind yourself that college football isn’t about you, or…upon the realization that CFB isn’t about you, question why you watched CFB up to this point, your priorities might be misplaced.

I'm just laughing that this entire whinefest of this is about how "everyone is about me", and it's just basically a big pity party for why HE isn't happy anymore.

Just a big ROFL.

Well, I did tell you people he will find his way home.

Now, regarding this football is dying nonsense, nope. As long as people enjoy violence whether it be professional wrestling, roller derby, boxing, pit fights, dog and cock fighting, race car smash-ups, wars, or football, there will be fans clamoring for more. We're a species with incredible abilities, but we're also a nasty bunch. Among others, a mocking crowd gathered as we nailed our God to wood beams, humans gonna human no matter what.
He’s an absolute goofball and sometimes I have to take a 2nd look at some of his posts, but, I like this guy!☝️

I do think it can, FWIW. I can't predict. I look at the level of interest, for instance, on semi-pro baseball, basketball, and football already existing. There is almost none.

Normal business "thought" is that the brand is all that matters, but that really is a philosophy for dumb people that can ignore substance. Not everybody is like that.

Also normal business thought includes this idea that you can "take your brand" and make a lot more money through your brilliant plan. They are making so much money now that maintaining the status quo might actually be a huge achievement. business people really struggle when they are in that situation. You'll recall NASCAR as a great example of a business that went through this exact situation.
Just wait until Zuckerberg and his metaverse get ahold of it. We’ll be watching virtual sporting events and the players won’t even have to get off the couch in their dorm, to play the game.

Next step? College football to become and NFL or another new pro league farm system?
I bet the powers that be in the NFL are hating this NIL stuff. It’s only a matter of time before the pay gets out of hand and in turn will cause NFL rookie salaries to grow even larger.
GBO!!
