Watch in 1-2 yrs how many jump into transfer portal when things promises don’t fulfill themselves
Absolutely. These kids can make a killing. Sign with A&M for $1-2 million. Transfer a year later for $1 million to UT or another school. It’s free agency now. I wouldn’t be shocked if Nolen signs with A&M and finish his college football career at UT. So recruiting rankings are going to mean less with so many schools saving spots for transfers. I bet we bring in 6-7 transfers this year by fall camp.

His body of works elsewhere but UT. He tried to run “his” defense at UT without compensating for lack of talent. You just can’t do that, but he refused to budge. Defense wise that was his downfall. He did not play to the strength of his guys. He ran his system and it hurt him.

Like Hank said he was not used to having spot drop off after the 1s.

This is also why he isn’t a good Head Coach. But the guy knows his X’s and O’s to deny that is just ridiculous and shows the bias in your posting.

You don’t have to like the man lol but at least be willing to be truthful.

NHDC 😐

I don't care what they make. I'm simply pointing out that pro sports has salary caps and draft orders to prevent certain very wealthy franchises from completely dominating to the detriment of the sport. Without those things in college ball, NIL will only reinforce the situation that a few wealthy teams completely dominate the rest to the further detriment of the sport.

Dooley said it best: "NSD is just like the NFL draft, except that Bama gets the first 25 picks". That's still true, and now we've eliminated the salary cap too.

Kids go to Bama because of Saban. They weren't pulling these guys like this prior to him.

College has always been a skewed playing field and we are major beneficiaries, which is why we have teams coming to Neyland for pay day games. In the end, it will be about the same thing as it always has been for recruiting players, how well you can sell them on your program.

Cristobal to Miami could have a big impact on TN opponents. Bama and UGA have been taking major talent from South Florida since Miami downfall. Cristobal will make it much harder to take those kids away. He will also challenged Napier at Florida in their recruiting home base. Not going to be as easy anymore for Bama/UgA to pull the south Fl and California kids from that used to go to UsC and Miami
I've been shouting it from the mountain tops lol

I highly recommend the book cited below to add some additional perspectives. My family met this gentleman, (Glenn Frazier) in Mobile Al. while he was still active and very much able to discuss that phase of his life.
I can't describe how humbled, inadequate & thankful I felt just listening to him describe what those soldiers experienced.

He was featured prominently in the Ken Burns WWII documentary "The War". It's pretty awesome that you got to meet that guy.

Totally agree. Just saying some will lose their mind because you are pointing out the obvious.

People who care about money they will never see and affects them none, plus think games are somehow now different and causing them to lose interest get exactly those above criticisms they warrant. I have scorn for them because they have determined other people should have less or suffer more in order to keep alive their quixotic dreams of how football is "supposed to be".

They don't want to watch football? Fine. Don't want to watch for dumb reasons or, worse, because you dislike the fact the players get some cash out of it? Deserves criticism and mockery.

The "people are leaving" stuff has been bandied about quite a bit recently, whether the NBA, NFL, or even Nikes, whatever. Yet, it doesn't actually seem to work out this way. So, yes, I'm quite confident they will still watch.
Well, that doesn't even deserve a "Bless your heart!" lol.

Interesting Ohio St pulls out of Elias Ricks recruitment fearing too much DB attrition if he was to come on board. Crazy what one guy can do to a room. Just another risk of the transfer portal that coaches have to weight if a guy is worth it because your going to run off others naturally.

Actually, the argument was not about who has the most money and resources wins the championships. It was about this spiraling out of control mercenary coaches, ADs, and players that is going to get even worse than the NFL....because they have limits. Fans of college football, as opposed to professional football, are already losing interest. If you like it....fine. Some want just some other minor league NFL. But to act like you "know" how this will turn out and already declaring it "good" is a little premature.

As far as the "passive aggressive condensation" which was a result of your "hyper aggressive condensation" because you disagree with others conclusions (because you care so much about others caring so much)...
"fairy tale nonsense"
"noble players"
"nostalgic silliness"
"stupid and selfish"

Yeah, your condensation was met with the appropriate amount of "bless your heart" it deserved.

My hope, *IF forced to rein it in, this mess could lead to more parity. But been in agreement on everything else.

Deleted earlier response to multiple "it's always been the same" posts.
Summary, blatantly inaccurate.

There's been multiple era's with completely different amounts of participation, illegality, funding and impact, especially on parity.

From almost none, to basically any program could if THE UNIVERSITY chose to do certain things. Now this, so far, unregulated wild west-ish show that is beyond university control.
*All different*.. every single one.
