Cristobal to Miami could have a big impact on TN opponents. Bama and UGA have been taking major talent from South Florida since Miami downfall. Cristobal will make it much harder to take those kids away. He will also challenged Napier at Florida in their recruiting home base. Not going to be as easy anymore for Bama/UgA to pull the south Fl and California kids from that used to go to UsC and Miami
Unfortunately, I think Bama and Georgia will still get their players, though maybe not quite as many from South Florida.

Harbaugh or Tucker seem like the favorites judging by the AP love this year for Tucker and Harbaugh finally winning his division and conference

I could see Fickell because of getting a G5 to the playoff but he didn't do anything extraordinary that he didn't do last year

My Great Uncle was in the Baatan Death March. I hate to admit that I can't remember all of the specifics, but he was a POW for quite a while and eventually released. I got the love of history from my mom, and she did some audio interviews with him to preserve the stories before he died. I may just have to ask her about them.

Your GU and my business law class professor in college were together in that march. His last name was Robinson. A great man, probably like your GU. He was so calm and patient. Those guys went through unthinkable things. It would be worth your time to follow up.

VolQuest Podcast Notes:
- SEC slotted teams in bowl games based on team records
- VQ guys think we have a lot more speed than Purdue
- Bowl practice begins on Saturday
- They are surprised by lack of portal moves (Assumed we would lose some players)
- Kaleb Webb (in good shape - thinks he commits before signing day), Agu (Lots of upside), M'ba (Would help us immediately: Will he visit Miami?)
- We are in good shape with Justin Williams (Auburn has no OC currently)
- Talked about how special Kennedy Chandler is
- Lowest scoring game and lowest shooting percentage Colorado has had at home since 2017
- Rob Lewis does not like the rotation of the basketball team (Thinks BHH over Uros and Powell over Bailey)
- They think Brian Kelly will need to win right out of the gate or LSU fans will eat him alive

Thank you for the summary. Landing Justin Williams would be huge. I’m optimistic in us signing M’ba as Rodney Garner typically closes strong (he has against us, anyway). Any coach at LSU would be expected to win big immediately as their talent is unparalleled. Add in lucrative money and even moreso. This is not unique to Brian Kelly.

Regardless of where this class finishes numerically, we have a staff clearly able to develop players. That’s cause for optimism right there. Fun time of year boys. 🍾

Anderson will not win it, but he flippped a 1-5 Utah State to 10-3 this year

Some are going to be shocked that you care what players are making. The game will still be the same. Lol

I don't care what they make. I'm simply pointing out that pro sports has salary caps and draft orders to prevent certain very wealthy franchises from completely dominating to the detriment of the sport. Without those things in college ball, NIL will only reinforce the situation that a few wealthy teams completely dominate the rest to the further detriment of the sport.

Dooley said it best: "NSD is just like the NFL draft, except that Bama gets the first 25 picks". That's still true, and now we've eliminated the salary cap too.

Actually, the argument was not about who has the most money and resources wins the championships. It was about this spiraling out of control mercenary coaches, ADs, and players that is going to get even worse than the NFL....because they have limits. Fans of college football, as opposed to professional football, are already losing interest. If you like it....fine. Some want just some other minor league NFL. But to act like you "know" how this will turn out and already declaring it "good" is a little premature.

As far as the "passive aggressive condensation" which was a result of your "hyper aggressive condensation" because you disagree with others conclusions (because you care so much about others caring so much)...
"fairy tale nonsense"
"noble players"
"nostalgic silliness"
"stupid and selfish"

Yeah, your condensation was met with the appropriate amount of "bless your heart" it deserved.

People who care about money they will never see and affects them none, plus think games are somehow now different and causing them to lose interest get exactly those above criticisms they warrant. I have scorn for them because they have determined other people should have less or suffer more in order to keep alive their quixotic dreams of how football is "supposed to be".

They don't want to watch football? Fine. Don't want to watch for dumb reasons or, worse, because you dislike the fact the players get some cash out of it? Deserves criticism and mockery.

The "people are leaving" stuff has been bandied about quite a bit recently, whether the NBA, NFL, or even Nikes, whatever. Yet, it doesn't actually seem to work out this way. So, yes, I'm quite confident they will still watch.

Honest question because I think you are a pretty sharp guy..How did you not see this coming?

I think you misunderstand me. It's always been about rich people buying players....20 x $1000000. I didn't expect that to change. I expected that NIL would be more about leveraging the power of a brand and a fanbase to make it 1000000 x $20. That doesn't appear to be the case and that surprises me. It may yet become that, but that requires organization that didn't exist, and that organization that takes time to create.

I don't understand the appeal of Texas A&M. They had a mediocre season propped up by an unlikely win against Alabama. They don't have a strong legacy of winning either in their overall program or through Jimbo (who's only had one really relevant, good team that I can recall). Their military-centric culture would likely be a huge turnoff for a lot of these players, and they are still considered "little brother" in their own state. Is it really just the money they're connecting players with through NIL?

Someone help me see what I'm missing here...

People wondering about why A&M has been recruiting well forget that Fisher is actually a really good recruiter. He recruited well at Florida State, getting an absolutely loaded Noles team a national title, and was in the top 6 recruiting the last two years at A&M before NIL.

It's his coaching which isn't that great. He was always going to pull players wherever he went, though.
