Let’s see how things play out, scaling up by a factor of 10 doesn’t just happen.

You may want to listen to the VolQuest odast that dropped yesterday. They interview the guy who is spearheading the effort.

Yep. The price I heard for Evan Stewart was at least $250k. That’s for a 5 star WR to go play in Jimbo’s offense that won’t throw him the ball. Now you’re seeing the NIL response in the arms race from Texas.
You are no help at all Mr Smith!

Cristobal to Miami could have a big impact on TN opponents. Bama and UGA have been taking major talent from South Florida since Miami downfall. Cristobal will make it much harder to take those kids away. He will also challenged Napier at Florida in their recruiting home base. Not going to be as easy anymore for Bama/UgA to pull the south Fl and California kids from that used to go to UsC and Miami

I kind of am...it reminds me a bit of a Rick Barnes class. Get some guys you know aren't looking to portal out after one season. Get some guys that are willing to come give it a proper try, will they all be starters? Who knows. Will they add depth and have the chance to play? Definitely.

I mean Pruitt's best class 2020 we've already lost 6 of those guys to the portal. I'd rather take a lower rated class (15-20) instead of high rated with divas that will bail soon as they don't see the field. At least during the early phases of building a foundation.

Yes, the key to this class is to minimize the defections. We can take gambles on 4 stars with some baggage, but how many of those guys have left our program within 2 years of coming? We need players and guys with good attitudes to stick it out and develop over 3/4 years.

The problem with these arguments is this is the very beginning and that 3 mil to Ewers has been lost with nothing to show for it for Ohio State. Yeah folks NIL money is flowing now, but when the donors get burned a few times by a recruit jumping ship, these waterfalls will dry up. Not completely dry but more along the lines of be on this billboard for 20 grand not a million.
That NIL deal wasn’t set up by tOSU boosters.

That is 100% the key and just hit on a couple stars and we are on our way.

Be interesting to follow. I still maintain that the more NIL will directly correlate to recruiting ranking. Which schools pay the most will get the higher ranked classes.

I agree, I guess my point is that when we scale it up so that the backup OG is making as much every year as the 5-star QB got in a bag one time to sign, the fanbases/donors of the schools that are able to thrive in such a system where the stakes have been raised will get reshuffled. Texas Tech is apparently in a bidding war for the services of Quinn Ewers because they have some motivated oil & gas alumni. Are states like Alabama and Louisiana going to be able to keep up with that? I think we will still be firmly in the mix.

Basilio is talking about it right now - tune in! ;)

Reading Clemson 247 and apparently their ST coordinator and an off field assistant are going to be Co-DC’s for the bowl game which makes them think they’re losing two of their best defensive assistants to OU, Todd Bates and Mike Reed. They’re freaking out.

Holy smokes - what a memory that is! So many stories to tell of tragedy, joy, hope and so on. Thanks for sharing.

Dad was in the naval Air Force and eventually flew missions over China spotting Japanese troop movements. Wish he was still with us to talk about it. My wife just lost a wonderful uncle that was stationed there after PH and went on to serve on a ship during battles at Okinawa and other locations. He was recognized by Congress through Rep. Dana Harshbarger's efforts just a couple of weeks before he passed. He never harbored any resentment toward anybody, friend or foe.

My Great Uncle was in the Baatan Death March. I hate to admit that I can't remember all of the specifics, but he was a POW for quite a while and eventually released. I got the love of history from my mom, and she did some audio interviews with him to preserve the stories before he died. I may just have to ask her about them.

VolQuest Podcast Notes:
- SEC slotted teams in bowl games based on team records
- VQ guys think we have a lot more speed than Purdue
- Bowl practice begins on Saturday
- They are surprised by lack of portal moves (Assumed we would lose some players)
- Kaleb Webb (in good shape - thinks he commits before signing day), Agu (Lots of upside), M'ba (Would help us immediately: Will he visit Miami?)
- We are in good shape with Justin Williams (Auburn has no OC currently)
- Talked about how special Kennedy Chandler is
- Lowest scoring game and lowest shooting percentage Colorado has had at home since 2017
- Rob Lewis does not like the rotation of the basketball team (Thinks BHH over Uros and Powell over Bailey)
- They think Brian Kelly will need to win right out of the gate or LSU fans will eat him alive

My goodness I wish we had got them as our matchup. Would have been awesome.
