Tennessee-Purdue opening line: Vols favored over Boilermakers
I think the oddsmakers have this one spot on!
Right, this time yesterday it was -2 for Purdue. I wonder what happened for the line to flip like that overnight? I think I saw one of their star recievers won't play in order to prepare for NFL draft, but don't we got one like that too? I also wonder how much we will be favored by come game!Tennessee actually opened as +2.5 dog but the line has moved hard to -2.5 favorite

Different betting houses put up different lines. It's a business, they're not all controlled by one giant bookmaker in Las Vegas.Right, this time yesterday it was -2 for Purdue. On paper their Iowa win is given way too much weight. They're insanely mediocre...such as having a negative YPP marginFPI has
Vols @ 22
Boilermakers @ 25
Edit: on paper this should be a close game.
I completely agree. WGWTFA, William Hill knows it, MGM knows it, Ceasars knows it, Westgate ditto, Circa sports is wierd tho. I can bet them all and still come out ahead.Different betting houses put up different lines. It's a business, they're not all controlled by one giant bookmaker in Las Vegas.
It is entirely possible that the journalist who wrote the article the OP quoted is right, and this particular betting house opened up with the Vols favored. Even as another betting house, which you two have apparently looked at, began with Purdue favored.
Both can be true.
The important part is that, no matter what the line, we're gonna whup Purdue's butt and it's hopefully not even gonna be close.
Go Vols!
