I agree, but there are immediate contributors all over the portal right now. But Heupel will need to be selective, they must fit the system and at immediate depth or positional improvement.
That's what I'm saying. We can afford to move slower at those other positions and see who else jumps in the portal. But Gibbs, I'm ready for him to commit right now.

Florida is like nobody is paying attention to us and our coach

I mean, I'm sure they felt great about their hire until guys like Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly started coming into play.

No doubt, the second position imo is linebacker, Banks is solid and with a bump in complimentary linebacker play he becomes a solid next level guy. After that I go O line to replace what we lose.

Heres what lll say.

Lincoln Riley bolted far away from SEC play where none of us could get his penny loafers dirty. He wanted no part of big boy ball. Kind of weaselly if we're being honest.

Brian Kelly left his coddly kingdom and walked right into the hairy belly of the beast and decided to try to compete with the best every week. Respect.

I love the LSU hire. Another great coach to add to the conference. I dont know if he wins a title there. But LSU is gonna be tough to knock off most years.

I think Brian just wanted a payday. If he wins that's just sugar on top.

Feldman's initial hot board for the Oklahoma job: Matt Campbell, Lane Kiffin, Mike Leach, Mark Stoops, Dan Lanning, Mike Elko, and Brent Venables
Doubt Campbell would go to Oklahoma. If Notre Dame doesn’t hire him he’ll stay at Iowa State. He’s one of those “true believer” types that’s all about building a culture and all that.

Grew up in a football-centric town in a football family and his Iowa State stint is the only time in his life he’s been outside northern Ohio, other than his freshman year playing at Pitt, which he left for a D3 school because he thought Pitt didn’t have a good football culture. South Bend is just a few hours away and fits his profile exactly, although he’d leave there for Ohio State if it came open down the road.

Kiffin and Leach would go in a heartbeat. They’re in Mississippi, for crying out loud. Norman is a step up by any measure. Not sure if OU would want those guys though, they’re not exactly the epitome of stability. (Apologies to any Mississippi Vols, feel free to make fun of me for living in California)

I have to think Shtoops is the front runner because he knows a guy. And has the name. Although it would be interesting to see how much that impresses the masses there.

Venables would be a close second because of his history there, despite his lack of HC experience. Don’t see them going for any other guys without HC experience like Elko or especially Lanning.
