Hola from UT Hospital . I’m sitting in the ER but I’ve at least had one prayer answered in that OH was alive when I got here. Make that two - the EMTs listened and didn’t stick him at the local. Bless whoever the EMT was. Really. At least he has a shot now. I don’t know how this is going to turn out and I kicked up an absolute sh!tstorm to get us here. I’m sure I will pay for it later but if it means keeping him alive even for a little bit longer I will gladly pay any price.

I’m an absolute wreck but this trip had to happen or I would never be able to live with myself. At this point, things don’t get any more grim but I want what everyone in this situation wants - more time and a fair chance at beating the odds.

I just spoke with the Doctor and while we don’t know yet what’s causing things I feel like he’s in good hands.

If it's his liver that is the cause of all of his problems, the place you really need to get to is Vanderbilt. UT has some good GI doctors, but no hepatologists. Vanderbilt is the closest hospital to Knoxville that does liver transplants and has actual liver doctors on staff.

We may be further down the road than I thought we were in terms of his liver. We never got a chance to really get good answers but I am hoping to get them this visit. I revoked hospice and have been very clear in letting his providers know that it’s revoked and he is full code.

I know that when all this began his liver was in super bad shape but at the same time it did improve enough for cryoablative surgery which is very noninvasive but even that wasn’t a consideration early on. If we can get to the point where treatment is reasonable then I want to pursue it with everything we’ve got and Vanderbilt will def be a step but right now it is a lot of not knowing.
