All I will say in rebuttal to that is by that rationale, from the stories of evil you have heralded about your youth, you should be behind those very bars yourself. The Christian would have empathy for all involved. A tragedy at the hands of a fool is still a tragedy. Every part of it sucks. Plenty of UT alumns can speak on that.

I also thought more about what I said after I said it. I try to teach my children humility, vulnerability, compassion. Realistically my child would probably forgive someone that did that, and I would have to accept that and honor their spirit. Even though it would kill me.

On the other side, if my child made that mistake. A tragic mistake. I wouldnt know what to do.

It is a dynamic situation, and a universal tragedy. Even talking about it dampens my mood, and I have no connection to that event whatsoever.

Thinking about his family, when they found out he was going to go be a young millionaire in Vegas of all places, probably thinking to themselves "please, god, keep my child safe"

All of this just highlights how precious life is and how harsh consequences can be.

I’ve always been more of a 19th/20th century lit guy. Never read sci-fi or fantasy. Kept seeing jokers on here talking about it, so I gave it a shot. Glad I did.
