Not sure if you are aware that a golf ball thrown from the stands onto the field can put someone in the hospital. So can a full bottle of water. It’s not a stupid narrative. What’s stupid is the decisions of some of our idiot fans who think that the outcome of a football game is worth seriously injuring someone.

Or that throwing projectiles on the field will in some way change things.

Just wondering if any of the folks saying the students throwing things and should be charged, kicked out of sporting events, etc, are some of the same folks that say players are young, we all make mistakes, etc when a player gets arrested. Just wondering!!

You can be willing to forgive someone and give them a second chance while also acknowledging that they deserve whatever punishment is levied upon them. The 2 scenarios are not mutually exclusive.

Let's be freaking real here, if lives were in danger, then someone would have gotten hurt. They didn't, because no one was throwing at anyone really --they were throwing trash on the field, which has happened hundreds of times. Maybe this time there was just more of it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Kiffin was hit with a golf ball --- more likely it rolled in front of him and he grabbed it to enhance the narrative the press was all too eager to present. Kind of like they enjoyed saying he snagged a plastic bottle out of the air one-handed, when he clearly swatted it away like you or I would.

I'm with the idea of making them clean up Neyland or pay a fine, ban them from a certain number of games, and make them take a sportsmanship class. And maybe the university could do something to cut off alcohol to those who appear to be falling down drunk.

You are wrong. There is literally footage showing where the golf ball hit him.

And there are there are eye witness reports of people getting in the head with projectiles. Someone on here said their GF in the band got hit in the face and bloodied her lip.

Actually, I going to speak to you as nice as I can. I spent a half a day at the doctors office on Sunday where a doctor put 4 stitches in the back of my daughters head from a beer can. I suggest you keep your trap shut about people not getting hurt. Yes, people were intentionally throwing items at people.

If no one got hurt from what was thrown, the ones you catch they get kicked out and banned for a game. Similar to targeting. If you threw something and there was a real injury, not like how the Ole Miss players were faking, the authorities should do their due diligence and press charges and have them play the Dr bills.

I don’t think someone that was traumatized by the throwing of trash should get compensation, just because it was scary. JH asked for a hostile environment and got it. Everyone knows he wasn’t asking for the trash throwing part of Saturday.

The person that injured your daughter should be found, charged for the crime and punished. I’ll be praying for her speedy recovery. I hope it didn’t ruin football for her.

Very sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope whoever did that is identified and has the book thrown at them, including compensation to you and her. As far as speaking nice to me, don't worry about it--let loose. I'm a big boy, I can handle whatever you got.

Okay so my formatting may suk still trying to figure how to post response to with a quote. But as Elvis Costello sang, my aim is true. I am so sorry that your daughter was hurt at Saturday's game. My daughter and friends were there and left when trash started hitting the field. Hope she feels better.

Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin nearly hit with golf ball in ugly scene as Tennessee fans litter field with debris

“Relief,” Kiffin said when asked how he felt, referring to not sure if it was about his win or not being hit by the projectile. “I don’t know if I’m more excited we found a way to win or I didn’t get hit by a golf ball they were throwing at me.

Nobody is justifying what went on, but I saw your video and Kiffin himself confirmed what I posted. I'm sorry for the several minor injuries, but I still think my reaction to the silliness is reasonable. They should be punished if located.

Let's blame--or, more accurately, hold accountable--each person for the things that THEY did and the decisions that THEY made.

It is not only possible, but right, to hold the refs accountable for some pretty shoddy, if not under-handed, play-calling. And at the very same time, hold a bunch of idiots (not all 17-22 years old) responsible for THEIR decisions and actions.

If you behave childishly, irresponsibly, even criminally, that's on you. No matter what hardships you feel like you faced.

Put this as plainly as possible: the refs were wrong, badly wrong in some of their play calls. And the hoodlums were wrong, badly wrong, in their actions as well. Two wrongs do not make a right, and someone else doing wrong never excuses you for reacting wrongly.
Preach about accountability from a self righteous perspective then gloss over any sort of accountability for refs.

Classic

Saying they were wrong is not holding them accountable

Wheres their punishment?

Really?? Hey I’ve got an even better idea! On top of banning them for life let’s go into their bank accounts and monitor every transaction they make over $600!!! That’ll learn ‘em.

Get a grip dude
Yeah, really. And what does acting like an absolute childish imbecile have anything to do with the IRS and politics? Hello apples, meet oranges......

If people know that their completely egregious actions warrant hefty consequences it's an automatic deterrent. And, if they get so hammered at the game that they do it anyway, well, I guess you just learned a very hard lesson.

I retort with, fans should be so trashy to cost the university 250K regardless of whataboutsim concerning the past.

They owe us that little 250 K bone after the last 20 years of ineptitude, after all they've had a big hand in what happened. The fans aren't half as idiotic as the administration. That's my retort.

With that being said, it's over. And, I don't expect that it will happen ever again.

Surely you are not implying that many of the offenders were drunk!? That is much too simple of an answer; and besides, we can't go blaming this on the beloved University.

Stay away from baseball games. Those foul balls could really do some damage.
