Follow the money. We have a higher rated team, and an hypesman trophy candidate. Tennessee, is not the flash team. They always do what they can to make sure the money team wins. The SEC is as corrupt as the mafia.

Yep. They need a saftey valve on the outside looking in in the event that Bama has another loss or UGA has any hiccups. They can’t rely on KY only ending up with one loss with their inconsistency on offense. They also need that Ole Miss win by Bama to look good for a one loss team.

Don't be blind...there is a fix. Sometimes I think it is just the crew as a whole doesn't like one team or the other, but I believe with all my heart that the league instructs them to protect the fat cows.
I believe this to a degree as well. Year by year the conference looks at which teams are supposed to be good and protects them. They do it imo for better bowl games/money. OM has a chance to run the rest of the table, I know it's not likely but a 1 loss OM could end up in the Sugar Bowl if 2 SEC teams make the playoffs. If not they'll get a solid New Years Day draw.

We are @ Bama, @ UK, and then have UGA. There is no chance that BOTH Milton and Bailey survive behind that OL that is only going to get more beat up. We'll have to see both.

I can't see the team getting motivated to play with Milton. Maybe you line him up to get slaughtered by Bama, then spend the off week getting Bailey ready, and we'll see what we can do vs Kentucky.

That's a really tight spot for the staff to be in. I trust their preparation, though.
Motivation has got to be bigger than one player even if 99% of the snaps pass through his hands on O. A good team should strive to lift up a QB who is struggling.

But we are also the fanbase that made a public outcry against SchiaNO and nobody likes us.

Imagine how bad they would hate us if they had trotted Jimmy Franklin out there and half our fan base (including me) would have not accepted him. The media doesn't like it when you don't accept them and their golden children. This goes back decades. The media loved coach Majors and didn't like what happened. They went postal when we called them out on manufacturing CW's Heistman out of thin air. As a fanbase we challenge their ability to control the informational narrative and they resent that.

We are 200+ miles away from that office and the primary enemy has it surrounded. They know from 75 years of history we are the only credible threat as the primary power broker in the SEC. Under Dickey we had as much influence as any conference member. Since then our university presidents and AD's have been horrid (with the notable exception of an interim president). We have not had anyone worthy of a seat at the adult table when the conference meets in some time. The rest of the conference took advantage of that. Our peers saw the opportunity to subjugate a threat. Our lessors saw an opportunity to leapfrog an "oppressor."

White can command a seat at that table. Boyd possibly could too, we'll see. Right now the only way we mitigate all the influences aligned against us is to be good enough that they cannot influence the outcome. We're not there yet, but everyone can see that it might finally be a real possibility.

Lots of truth here and very well said. I hate this conference.

I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to understand our OL is in no shape to protect a guy like Bailey. He’ll get sacked 10+ times against Bama. He’s 0 threat to run the ball which lets the defense focus solely on our RB’s. Milton at least can run around.
Milton can trout around he isn't a speed demon. Milton is as big of a threat throwing the ball as Bailey is running the ball. "I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to understand."

What worries me more about this weekend is we just played 101 plays on defense vs Ole Miss. luckily we rotate quite a bit on DL. Not sure how much rotating we did in secondary but LB those 3 cats were in field A LOT. Need some young guns to get some reps and need to come out unscathed. What sucks is i would have given us a fighting chance with a healthy Hooker, Cade and Tiyon. Without I just don’t see it unless Preseason Joe wakes up and unleashes bombs…. The good news is Henry T can’t defend a slant and Joe can throw a mean slant lol

I'm completely sold.

But what's also gonna be funny is when the constant negative media attention galvanizes the Scots-Irish (rebellious and don't like to be screwed) UT fanbase into a single monolithic force for chaos, resulting in sold-out redneck-mad "I'm mad as he11 and not gonna take it anymore" crowds, thus achieving complete unity in spite of poor performance on the field. You think we're bad now? Just wait.

I’m just surprised media isn’t trying to demonize the Vol fan base with the racist, conservative, terrorist bombs yet...

The programs are revenue producers for a larger organization that pulls in $$$$$$

Any other money-making institution protects their highest earners. It is only natural.

Companies protect their best sales reps, or look the other way all the time. In every single industry, even nonprofit, whatever the draw is, whatever is making you the most money or keeping everyone fed, is going to be protected.

From what i've seen, Milton is serviceable at intermediate throws, just can't hit a deep ball with touch. Bailey struggles with intermediate throws and won't have time to setup a deep ball against Bama. You're asking for a Nathan Peterman situation if you throw Bailey in first.

If I remember correctly back in 16 when that team was supposed to be Elite, TN got some calls early before they faded. TN has to figure out how to put itself in the spot to get those calls. With that being said it doesn't excuse it, officiating should be right down the middle black and white but unfortunately that isn't how it goes. As the underdog you have to beat a better team 3 or 4 times in this conference before you can win.

In protest and mockery, Tennessee should fake an injury on every single defensive play next week. We probably don’t stand a chance to win. Send a message and make the officials call the game a forfeit after the first quarter goes 2 hours
Honestly.... I wouldn't hate that absolute troll job.

We definitely got caught falling down, with some helpful pats on the butt.

True….. this LA team is very different though…..very depleted with injuries with only 3 viable starters left and for whatever reason we keep using them as relievers… We can still win but going to need some luck along the way.
You must not keep up with the Braves. We are littered with injuries too. Our best pitcher and best player are not even playing. And haven’t for a while.

Yep - it was classic Milton. Panic, run right into your own blockers, turn around and run left, see a defender coming about 5 yards away, take off running down the sideline, realize you've already screwed up, run out of bounds. Perfect.

HB successfully went against the Candy D last season, which was about the same as the OM D this year and last. No Hooker, bad Milton, why such angst against HB? Dumb IMO. He hit 70.6% of his passes for over 8 Y/A with 4 TD's and 2 picks. He slides in the pocket and can get 5-6 yards when needed with his legs. The have to dumb the scheme down for Milton to do it badly. They can dumb it down for HB to do it decently if HH is out.
Speaking of Vandy---did anyone see the last two and a half minutes of their game with cocks? Vandy had that game won and they decided to play the prevent defense because the cocks had the ball with no timeouts left.
Carolina changed QB's on their last drive and drove straight downfield for the winning TD. Didn't run the ball one time while Vandy was rushing 3 and dropping 8. He ate the defense alive and scored with 23 seconds left. It was crazy and the Carolina head coach acted like they won a championship :):)

Fair point, I only meant our team was touching the ball in the end zone. We were that close to winning despite everything else that happened.
I thought multiple times in that 4th quarter that the team was gonna implode (because that is what Tennessee does), but they kept fighting against a really good offense and gave us a shot to win in the last drive...something we haven't had against really good teams in a long time.
