The Official Ole Miss Game Thread: Zone Edition

I’m sorry but saying you’re glad that the Tennessee kids who poured their lives into this lost because people they don’t know watching them play acted like complete morons is an insult to those kids who bleed for Tennessee football.

condemn the idiots but support the kids.

Especially when the kids were robbed of the victory by continued incompetence from the Bama dominated SEC office...

The teams did that.
The drunk adults mixed in with the rest of the fans…..not so much
I know that, and it makes me sad for the team. As long as I’ve been a fan, tonight made me sad as a fan. I thought we had already crossed that corner, but once again, I’ve been proven wrong. I drink on occasion, don’t see anything wrong with it if someone does it responsibly, but tonight proved alcohol doesn’t need to be in the mix on a college campus, I’m sure I’ll pizz off the open up more beer concession crowd. Still will stand by what I posted.

I agree. I’ve emailed the university and told them I won’t be attending any live sports events at Tennessee if beer is being sold. The environment has become hostile as a result.

I’m sure they don’t care but I spoke my mind.

This is so damn sad. But it’s true.

But you know what? A 7:30 pm start time is way different from a noon kickoff. Students - and others, just read posts here - start hammering down the booze, way stronger than beer, 8-10 hours before kickoff. I’m not convinced that beer sales in the stadium are the real villain.

If anything, we need breathalyzers at the entry gates. And how sad is that?

Tonight’s exhibition was right up there with the worst of English pro soccer (football.)

The in stadium sale of beer isn't the issue. The lines are too long, they are too short staffed, they cut off sales early, the bathrooms are too disgusting to piss it out, and its too expensive. The 12 hours of pregame drinking is the bigger issue.

Yeah I totally disagree. I don't believe all that caused them to throw crap on the field and act like drunken idiots immediately after a game changing call. The pre-game drinking has always existed now they can sneak it in easier and feel more brave about drinking it without being noticed because it's being sold there. It's a psychological issue that some don't even know it is an issue. They now have permission to drink as much as they want and do whatever they want.

I thought Danny White addressed the long lines, short staff and adding more places to get beer last week and said it would be implemented in time for this game. Did that not happen?

Can't convince me beer sales in the stadium was a good idea. Already spent hours in the ff when it was first discussed and heard it all.

I have a problem with alcohol, but I know not everyone does, that was 1 of my many problems with it, I thought I could drink like normal people. But, I know I ain't the only one with a problem with it.

Honestly, I seriously thought people were going to charge the field. I was sitting near field level and there was a few I thought were going to go after Kiffin and the refs. Fortunately, they did not.
I was about to jump all over Kiffy and the ref, but I seent you and didn't want you to tell errbody here what I done did.

In the score thread I picked 42-38 Vols.

But, the total yards by both teams is Interesting. Several responded and said it was too low. I said 968. It was 977. Boon!

Lulz, lucky guess, but that's aight, errbody else's was a guess too. :)

What I saw last night from the fans was inexcusable, however understandable. Over a decade of frustration literally poured out on to the field.

Pissed at what we thought was a bad spot that turned out to be the correct spot. I say we because not only were the fans at the game miffed, but so were we at home. Thank goodness there are no TV cameras in our living rooms. Lol

Disappointed with the fans that acted an ass. Sure.

Proud of the boys in Orange?... You're Damn Straight, Skippy! They poured their hearts into that game last night. "Tough" they are.

It's the day after a non-embarrassing loss and I have too say...

It's great to be a Tennessee Vol!

I don’t think last night was the end of the world. I just can't understand some in the ff condoning it. As I said in that thread, we'll get past it.

There's some validity to your post. Here is what I saw.

The beer waits were still long. It's 15-20 mins (and longer at end of quarters/halves). Might have been more stands open than USCe but like everywhere in the country, they are understaffed. They cut off sales in the 3rd quarter.

I've been there with other big time night games. They weren't any more drunk than those games. There's actually fewer people extremely drunk heading into the game now.

The bigger issue that I saw

1. The number of visibly intoxicated people was 50-75 fold higher going into the stadium this week as compared to USCe. We saw two people vomit heading into stadium.

2. Security is not checking anything or enforcing rules. I saw plenty of people enter with drinks In their hands. We both walked in both games holding a cup. They arent searching bags. I saw two visibly intoxicated women in our line pull the tampon box trick to sneak airplane bottles into the stadium.

What you saw was a fanbase going against a despised coach desperate for a big win playing a highly competitive game at night. Its a fanbase that has been sh-t on by officials for years and was trailing at that point due to a monumentally blown call. You add alcohol and another borderline call on 4th down and that was your perfect storm.

#2 is the biggest issue imo and the result is everything else you said.

I disagreed with...
