Some of y'all need to extract heads from backsides. Not a coach or player would have a job left if we combed through all their personal texts and emails.

The f slur was a comedic lunch line not 15 years ago in movies. Are we going to cancel those comedians too?

He sent these to NFL and team addresses.

Nobody gives a flying f$&k what he says in personal emails.

These were sent to work locations. Can you get away with that at your work?

again, this isn’t some sort of buddy to buddy private conversation. He sent these to someone’s work email over multiple years. And made multiple inappropriate comments.

Why defend him? Why should we give Jon the benefit of the doubt? He’s been a public figure for at least 20+ years. And if he’s willing to send that to someone’s work email over multiple years, then what does he truly feel about women and gay people?

I believe most folks are way over thinking this. You have a situation where the HC of an NFL team is on record verbally B@#$ Slapping the commissioner of the league. Folks will put on their social indignation face and opine upon his great sins. They don't matter. You can't work in the league being on record about the commissioner that way.

No matter how you try to word your posts to justify what he said Gruden deserves everything he got. You're right, you won't find anything like that in my emails.. It's not that hard.

I love how everyone is just ignoring the fact that if you went through everyone's emails and texts in the NFL you might have a small handful of men left who don't deserve to get fired.

Gruden is being shown the door and "resigning" because he called Goodell a pussy, pointed out a coworkers enormous lips, and said f*****. This isn't actually that bad and never would have seen the light of day had someone not had an axe to grind.

Unlike a lot of people around here I'd like to see more detail and context, I'm immune to media hysteria. But I will allow from what I can gather Gruden made a number of statements both off-color and totally inappropriate. It was an untenable situation and now he's gone, thats the world we live in. My question is why are you so personally offended by any of this?

He used the f slur as a grown adult in a semi professional form in an email. Along with his other comments, I don’t need more context.

To the bold: As someone who is friends with a number of gay, bisexual and trans people that word has been used for decades to hurt them and make them feel worthless and the word needs to be stamped out. There should be non legal consequences for those that use it in a semi- professional setting such as Gruden emailing an NFL executive to the executive’s work email. As best, it is simply inappropriate and being an NFL head coach is a privilege, not a right. Using that kind of language isn’t okay.

Probably. The PR backlash of not drafting the first openly gay football player would have been ugly. Didn't matter that he was undersized, relatively slow, and his 17 bench press reps 2nd worst at his position.

He had 17 TFL’s and 10 sacks in the SEC as a senior and was a 7th round pick. It’s not like he was a second round pick or anything. If Sam wasn’t gay nobody would have thought “bad pick” for the 7th round.
