But are they great because of the talent around them? A great QB suggest great talent. If they're a great talent they should make it to the league and be successful.
College and NFL are two totally different animals. Was Robert Griffin IIII just surrounded with elite talent, and that’s why he dominated and won the heisman? He didn’t work out in the nfl

How many championships did he win at Baylor?

Yes, imo, you are wrong. I never said a great QB didn't elevate a team. My point is you don't have to have a great QB to have a great team. Having a great QB doesn't guarantee a championship caliber team. Having a good QB doesn't disqualify you from having a great team.
You’re basically saying the same thing I am. You just want to argue

Sorry, I disagree. The Alabama QBs prove my point, pretty strongly.
How about joe burrow at lsu? You should be able to name the QB on about every national championship team for the pst 10 years. That’s not because they’re average QBs

Successful in College doesn’t always translate to NFL. See FU QB’s of the 90’s and beyond. That said, Bama’s system QB’s could deliver a good deep ball when teams stacked against the run. Tua etc helped change their philosophy and the QB’s they pursued…
I'm not talking about QB success at the college level. I'm talking about talent for a QB. If a QB is considered great from a talent perspective, they should be good in the NFL. There's many a QB that performed great in college but weren't greatly talented. In most of those cases they were surrounded by great players. Danny Wurfell (sp), Darell Dickey come to mind.

It’s a shame some idiots ran him off. There were many people who vouched for him, including some who actually met him when they wanted tickets or other favors.
I think it’s because he’s considered THE insider and then he was just wrong. It’s a message board so if you have that status and are wrong, too many times with the same excuse, then posters will probably call you out. I think it’s great if he helped people. We should all try to help others. This is a message board and if you want e cred, you don’t get it being wrong. I also don’t know why someone with that level of connection would want e cred anyways.

I don’t think he’s ever followed your initial point. I get what you’re saying though. AJ McCarron, Blake Sims, Greg McElroy, Jake Coker were all meh but with insane talent around them. They weren’t asked to do a whole lot bc Saban was terrified of turnovers and wanted to run it 60 times a game if he could.

What about Joe Borrow? Was he surrounded by a bunch of scrubs and he alone dragged them to a national championship?

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with him this morning. He is an AC grad so I guess I should cut him some slack. Not all of us have our PHD.

Nobody was even close to their talent. Those bama teams are the exception. Top teams are closer in talent now, but why guys like TL were able to separate their teams and win a natty

Ole WoodsmanVol thought today was Saturday haha. He even put some meat on the grill!

It’s not as black and white as you’re trying to make it, but most great college teams have a great QB leading them. You can also be a great QB without being a great NFL QB
That’s not even close to being true….. Alabama was great bc of the Offensive line/ RBs and the defense….. the QBs just had to not screw it up…. Those same QBs would not have been successful here bc we didn’t have that kind of talent…. There examples in the NFL as well….. Trent Dilfer when he won his Super Bowl and Peyton Manning’s last super bowl.

Those are the the exceptions, not the rules. Way more examples proving I’m right and you two are wrong. Thanks for playing though

These days, with teams closer in talent, you have to have an elite QB to get you over the top. I’m not taking about 15 years ago
