Is History repeating itself?

I'm not so sure that Oklahoma is Heupel's dream job. Stoops fired him and they've been cold ever since then. Oklahoma chose Lincoln Riley over Heupel. He seems to be genuinely peeved about all that. He wants to prove everyone wrong, just like he did when he was a college QB and major schools ignored him. Tennessee has given him his chance.

Moreover, people forget that Heupel was only at OU for 1 year. He went to school at Weber State then Snow College. Think he was a 5th year player by the time he played at Oklahoma.
He was there two. Stoops first season and the NC season. Won 6 the first year.

And the silly absurd threads just keep coming. GBO!!!!!!

I don't Think it'll happen but it's not that absurd if Riley decides to move on... Heupel has a better resume than Kiffin did at the time.

New coach

Black uniforms for South Carolina

Next, Lincoln Riley gets hired in the NFL

Heupel jumps to Oklahoma after one season because its his dream job

Curse continues

Per the MOU, it would cost Oklahoma $8 million to buyout his contract before December of next year.

Oklahoma isn't that dumb.

I don’t know that Oklahoma is his dream job at all. He’s not from Oklahoma. He’s from South Dakota. Oklahoma was just the place that made the most sense for him to transfer to. He was also fired from there as an assistant so there’s certainly some bad poor. Here’s the thing…if a coach is actually able to build Tennessee up to a contender…staying at the school on top is certainly the path of least resistance. If Riley left Amd Oklahoma came calling heupel it would mean he has it rolling here. That would mean leaving a program on top (with an entire roster of kids he’s recruited and coached up) to take over a program with none of the personnel he recruited. On top of that he’d be moving his family and returning to a program that fired him while working for an athletic director he doesn’t know. On top of everything else he’d likely get a contract extension if he does well here would probably ha e a huge buyout for another school. It’s just so unlikely. Why even think about it?

All that is moot when the Brinks truck backs up to your front door...

If the OU job did open up, I’m not sure that Heupel would be very high on their list. That’s not a judgement on his coaching ability, more of a reflection on how good of a job Oklahoma is and the type of candidates that they can attract.
Hopefully AD White was prudent enough to put a poison pill buyout fee In Heupel’s contract to prevent such a scenario

Nice try. Oklahoma fired Heupel and he isn’t going back. Especially with us having Danny White. The guy who gave Heupel both head coaching chances.

I personally think CJH would tell Oklahoma to shove it anyways. Didn't really leave on the best of terms. Lol

Your not ready for VN! Go back and read some of the nited posts, study them, then go work on some new material.

Not too worried about that. OU may work for CJH as Tennessee worked for Mike Gundy a few times. Time for a raise. In the strange case he does bolt, I think there is a lower toxicity level now for Hugh Freeze.
