I mean the stats don't show that they played that well. 7-17 passing for 87yds. Difference is that they had a 41yd TD pass (Big play #1). They ran well, but I wouldn't say UK's normal rushing success. Only 137yds. They got timely turnovers: the interception and the blocked kick-six (big play #2).

They won because of their defense and two huge plays. If they don't make those huge plays then Florida wins something like 16-6.

Our strength on defense is Run-D. That gives us an advantage. Eliminate their big plays in the passing game and you shut them down. Don't let them force constant 3 and outs when we are on offense. If we score 3 TDs we beat Kentucky.
The stat that had me scratching my head was Kentucky only had 47 plays and still won. Florida was well over 60 plays.

We haven’t had a problem stopping the run, we held Florida to the least amount of rushing yards they’ve had all season.

Not true. Bama & now Kentucky held them to less than we did.

But yeah our rushing defense is really stinking good.

And actually our passing defense hasn't been too bad either. Giving up just 6 TDs through 5 games and only having two teams throw for more than 225 on us while leading the conference in passing attempts against us. Ultimately the biggest difference in our wins vs our losses was Penalties & TOs. We're not an "elite" defense or anything, but we're pretty damn stout.

Also so far only one team has held us to under 400 total yards of offense in a game, Pitt.

How so?…he wants to beat saban and if he does we won’t talk about what he did in the pre game interview…we wouldn’t would care how or what he did if he was coaching tennessee,as long as he beat bama…can’t hate on someone who’s hungry..Kiffin is proven.
What has Kiffin proven?

The Sunhine Pumper is coming out in me today.

Our guys just took a non-candy division opponent to the woodshed and burned it down when they were through. This was just one week removed from a tough loss playing a physical UF in the swamp and coming out with a lot of injuries including a dinged up QB and loss of their starting C with a depthless roster and a 11 AM start time on the road.

Wow. Just wow.

This. Regional/national media has noticed what CJH is doing with a roster that wasn't recruited for his system. Will be fun to watch his O when he has his own guys to run it. Best thing is the improvement since the start of the season.

I’m surprised it was that many last year… I don’t remember that many lol.

I thought the same thing and went back and checked. We had 6 against Vandy, 4 against South Carolina, and 5 against Missouri. 11 TDs spread out among the 7 losses.

He was on several short lists. Rebuffed earlier interest from us but when we got turned down by Washington, White got more persistent. I’m sure he was ready to run his own show because the “co-“ in his title was title only. I’m thinking Heupel had a good part in the sell job. A HC who doesn’t meddle on that side is enticing.

I'm more clueless than I've ever been about a TN staff. But a little surprised by the apparent improvement in just a few games, in year one.
Man, I hope it continues. I want to feel even a semblance of the way I used to. Never been impatient or demanding but would give anything to know we're at least, finally, on the right road. Instead of screaming "yee ha!!" while flooring it into a brand new ditch.

My goodness.. they really did break me 😅

We had a great team in 2015-16-- almost all of them are in the pros, but couldn't beat Vanderbilt.
That's what happens when you take an opponent for granted----I somehow doubt Heupel will let that happen with his teams.

Lol

In line at a bagel shop downtown and two guys in front of me wearing UK jerseys talking about the game. These two honestly think they can go undefeated and win.

“UGA can’t score on our defense and their defense hasn’t played anyone good yet” lol
UK had 220 yards of offense against Florida😂😂😂 I mean how delusional

Simmons was carted off yesterday, read he came back late on the sidelines with his foot in a boot. Has anyone heard how serious it may be?
