Very true but I do think the Ole Miss game may be winnable. I’m coming up with some fam for that one. Whether people want to admit it now or not if heupel manages to beat lane in his first year it will give every Tennessean a lot of confidence in our coach and this staff hire

They have legit weapons on offense in Corral, Early, and Mingo ( who isn't playing today ) that could give the Vols problems.

Pickett dissected the defense already and I would put the Kiffin/Corral combo above Pitt.

I think Ole Miss will put together a better effort at the line of scrimmage on both sides than what Missouri did today.

The only thing I think about next week is this-

Tennessee is the one who will decide what happens next week. If Tennessee prepares with a purpose and comes in ready to play, they will win and probably win big. If they come unfocused and distracted, they will struggle but win - but could also lose if they aren't careful.

In either of these scenarios, it's on Tennessee. Next week, home game, against a team that's really struggling, the decision is in Tennessee's hands. It's up to the players and the staff to decide what they want to do with that opportunity.

Fair enough.

I do worry about how our defensive back 7 (our least strong part of the field) match up against Ole Miss's passing game. Agree with you there.

But we're going to be able to score on them, too. As long as we continue to show the intensity and discipline we had today, we can move the ball on just about anyone (okay, just about anyone short of Bama and UGa). Should be a high-scoring affair.

Appreciate you explaining your perspective more fully.

We will break 55 on the gameCOCKS.
They will be lucky to score 20.
We will have 500+total yds offense with 275 minimum of it on the ground.

No problem.

I also think Saban had this game circled on his calender since last years 63-48 shootout and wanted to prove his brand of ball still works.

They were balanced on offense, controlled the game clock, and kept Corral bottled up.

TN should be able to score on Ole Miss no doubt but I don't see the Vols having the same success as Bama did today on defense.

SC has a better D than Mizzo but their O is not good UT should win by 2 tds but its College we will see

SCAR can play some defense but they aren't great at scoring points. Kevin Harris is getting better and they use 4 RBs. Doty is probably 12th or 13th best QB in SEC.

SCARs best edge rusher will be out in 1st half due to targeting. They are thin at LB and LB play is a weakness. DL is pretty good.

SCAR was also active in special teams with blocks. But they also had a lot of turnovers. If not for a 90 yard Pick6 at near halftime, Troy might be up 14-10 at the half.

Play like today with few penalties, self-inflicted wounds and turnovers and we should spank them next week.

Ummm if I’m GA and Bana I do NOT want to face the Vols coming up. Those are potential trap games depending upon injuries and other intangibles. If TN shows up to play and is firing on all cylinders we’ve got absolutely NOTHING to lose and everything to gain just by keeping it close.

Granted by all rights we should get blown out we’re way undermanned but nobody can afford to look past us now.
