UCF had 9.2. Vols had 6.5 and Bama had 7.6. If you add in the extra plays itās no big deal.Exactly. These are the averages per game, but you need to recalculate with number of plays per game factored in.

I'm not a math major but pretty sure we aren't averaging 9.0 a game. I've got 31 in 4 games. Quite a few are dumb penalties. Know who has more in less games? The negavols favorite coach down in Mississippi.
And I wouldn't care if we were getting 20 offensive penalties per game while still maintaining a top 10 offense. It's irrelevant. Now if defensive or special teams penalties are giving our opponents advantages that cost us games, that's another issue.
9 penalties per game for offsides or whatever when you are putting up 600yds a game isnāt a big deal. The penalties Iām talking about are the boneheaded ones like personal fouls etc. that can be completely prevented.View attachment 397775
9.2 penalties per game, almost the worst in the country.
Hope you're right in the end though because I don't know if I have the mental fortitude to listen to 4 more years of dogging college kids in the name of defending a lame duck coach.
I mentioned it the other day. I wish we took a fair catch on every kickoff return. It seems like we make it back to the 25 yard line but risk an injury, turnover or penalty to end up in the same place. And I wouldn't care if we were getting 20 offensive penalties per game while still maintaining a top 10 offense. It's irrelevant. Now if defensive or special teams penalties are giving our opponents advantages that cost us games, that's another issue.
If anything this statement lends credence to their prior assertions about Mullen's statements post game don't they?Everyone who thought Mullen was full of it for the compliment he paid Tennessee about playing harder this year are now swearing by what he said today. Mental gymnastics are impressive!
