If we just win football games these egotistical donors forming a “mutiny” will stfu or they can gtfo. They’ll be plenty of money to go around and plenty of butts in seats.

Lol it’s really that simple. Quit using data, numbers, statistics, whatever lol, it’s clear as day they are making **** too complicated.

Why is there always “mutiny”? Sounds like a lot of entitlement.

Who is entitled?

The football program at UT is not on an island. As others have said a host of other athletic programs at the university depend on football revenue but there’s another perhaps equally if not more powerful voice. The local businesses in Knoxville are reported to take in around $42 million per home game. That report was published in 2017 after Butch had sold over 70k season tickets a year in 2015/16. The empty seats in the stadium now are mostly former season ticket holders. Danny White said on Vol Calls last week we were down to 52k. The economic losses to Knoxville businesses are approaching $100 million per year. People may have something to say about that.

I think the problem is a detachment from the game and the history of Tennessee football. We don’t have Tennessee people. We have business people. The passion and devotion to our team was built up over generations and passed from one to another. The fanbase rightly feels invested in both the game and the university. Generally I think most fans could give a damn about the business side of football but it’s become increasingly clear to a growing number of folks that the only thing the administration cares about is the business side of things. Good luck with that.

Most season ticket buyers will spend more on their collection of season tickets for our football team over the course of their lives than they would spend to buy a new home. They and their guests will spend that much and more in the community on game days. The university can scale back attendance planning and try to make up the lost revenue from higher prices and added media income but what about the local community businesses?

It’s butts in the seats that matter and matter to more people than one might think. I guess the city could jack up the taxes on our athletic programs to offset the loss of revenue in the community. Something like that is bound to generate a lot of consternation on the hill. jmo.

WTF is entitled? I am pretty damn certain I've invested more in Tennessee football than most and I'm not throwing in the towel until I kick the bucket but our damn admin acts like a bunch of liberal democrats. They're entitled to our money? F-that. jmo.

Some sell them, but a lot of people have been giving tickets away or donating them to charities for years now. UT has been begging donors to keep seats for years and long-time donors have complied. UT needed to overhaul the ticket structure, and most donors would agree with that. But loyalty goes both ways, and as you point out, demand isn't at a high point right now. When you can't give away prime seats for home games, the trajectory isn't where you want it to be. We'll see how it works out.

Reality.

Will see how good they are at selling considering they pizzed off a bunch of loyal season ticket holders.

Prob like 20 pounds and he would be fine. Looks pretty quick/fast.

Mariota was 210 at Oregon. This kid is similar
Mostly curious about his running.

He doesn't have good looking stats in that department - just over 2 YPC...but curious what the actual game film says.

For instance, one game where you can see stats he had 8 carries for -7 yards. But he was also sacked 5 times for -37 yards. Meaning he had 3 actual carries for 30 yards. Now...is he getting sacked due to an awful OL or are they his fault/partially his fault?

Big Jim is like 90 years old. Not to be grim, but he can't have too much longer left. I'd imagine Junior is too busy with the Browns to care too much about interfering here. Not sure about Bill.

Big Jim is older and in declining health. Jimmy and Dee care more about academics and philanthropy-- and they're spending more time and money in Ohio. Bill's interests lie elsewhere. The next generation of Haslams are not interested in controlling UT. Same goes for a lot of booster families. The torch isn't being passed on. Yet the false narrative continues.

The way he moves in that clip I posted really does remind me of Oregon Mariota.

We will see how he turns out though.

A lot of people said this after they lost Trask, Pitts, and Toney..

They will have a good QB, but I don’t see Anthony else out there. Every year they at least have a backup at WR or two.

The secondary is meh now. That’s what I usually worry about. The DL usually has ballers behind the starters but didn’t see anything after the starters that was worrisome

Really? Who besides Big Jim is still powermongering? I'd be curious to know.
Someone, that should know, told me Big Jim has taken a step back. Hasn't been involved that much with the AD. Said his age is showing. Also, said Jimmy is immersed in the browns and isn't even in Knoxville most of the time. He has no idea where Bill is. Basically that the Haslams weren't involved much at all. I have no idea if it's true.

Wonder if he hits the portal at the end of the season. Struggling and after the stadium chants they want the backup to play.
Kid is incredibly overrated. I remember watching him on that Netflix show QB 1. Was very immature and wouldn't take accountability for anything, was a really bad teammate. Hes Tate Martell with a better arm
