Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

When looking ahead at the season during fall practice, all I had was hope that Milton could be fixed and that we could get lucky with injuries for once..

Both those hopes are ground to dust. I like this staff, and I like the fight in this team. I have a lot of hope for the future 3-4 years down the road, but the next two years are going to he rough unless Heupel can find him a really good QB somewhere...

A really good QB would hide a lot of the problems.
It would but it's not likely to happen. Realistic option we can hope for is a serviceable qb and keep a staff together long enough to build continuity and win a couple we shouldn't over the next 2 to 3 years and chip away.

If we get a bowl ban I'm afraid the transfer portal dries up. I think recruiting gets more difficult too, which is why I'm extremely concerned with our current level of recruiting. Bottom line is Heupel is going to have to develop some players and count on scheme to try and keep up.

Also, a lot of people are putting a lot of stock in the portal, and thats a mistake imo. Most of the guys transferring arent playing where they are for a reason. Take Turnage and Mitchell for example one doesnt play and the other is average depth at best. Only the top schools are going to get the difference makers.

Not like every other team does that.

But how many offensive gurus have sooo many “stinker”
Games as JH??

The guy simple can’t score points against the elite SEC defenses. It’s really eye opening if you guys were willing to take your orange colored glasses off and go look at his results

Rather rely on a back up from a top 10 school (potentially) then a high school 3 star. Just me

Naw. We were screwed no matter what in that scenario. Schiano would have been a 5-7 hire

I didn’t think he’d be super coach, but I thought he’d be a solid recruiter who could build out a roster and get us stable and respectable. Instead we got Pruitt and the mess we’re in today, pushing out the rebuild another half decade. Can’t go backwards in time though.

Just gotta plug ahead.

I’m all in for Heupel. If he can get his guys I think Vol football can be very entertaining.

Milton's good at hitting grandma in the second row. The receivers don't even try anymore because they know on outside the hash routes that need loft that they cannot jump that high.

Heup is wasting on a lot of time and reps on him. Hooker is the #1, move HB into #2 and move on. Might win some games if he will.

Our WRs don't try for anyone. Our best WR are TEs.

I'm sorry, you are correct. Heupel sucks, Tennessee sucks. We should make you the AD and HC

Jimmy Callaway ruined the season.
Not sure many felt our season hinged on the UF game. Most believe it hinges on anyone not named UF and UGA in the east in hopes of bowling… the extra practices are yuge…
He dropped a pass. It really sucked in the moment. He has skill though and I hope to see him continue to develop… I’m more concerned about the lack of Hyatt at this point…

As crappy as our QBs are, the receivers are just as bad at catching the ball...compounding the problem. The scheme is good..we just have to wait till Heupel gets the players to execute it. It really is that simple. I think Banks also gets the most out of what he has to work with.

Surely to goodness there are some good players out there smart enough to see what they could do here.

Overall, I am pretty disappointed. The bottom line is 14 points scored and a 24 point loss. We left at least 10 points out there, probably more. We are not making plays we have to make to win close games. This one was not close and even if we make more, we still lose. Anyway, on to Missouri. Going to be a very tough game, but it is winnable.
