I’ve decided I have to look at Heupel’s offense the way you look at a basketball team that lives and dies by the 3-pointer.

It’s a volume shooting game. Got to take a bunch of shots to make a bunch, but they are low percentage so you have to accept that you will miss.

Same thing on the deep throws.

We simply will not connect on all of them. But we have to keep taking them till we do connect because that’s what makes the offense run.

Yes.

LOL… accurate

The game is rigged and it will continue to be until either the NCAA or some other organization begins to demand recruiting changes. College football has never been fair but right now it's absolutely broken because 5*s have collected at less than a handful schools. Years ago this simply didn't happen -- a larger number of teams split the talent but Saban broke things so utterly that now the top 4-5 recruiting schools are the only ones that matter. If your class isn't within that range, it sucks because what makes a BAMA 1 class or an UGA 1 class is a metric ton of 5*s not a mix of 4*s and a handful of 3s and 5s.

That and you notice the fall of USC, Miami, Florida (Meyer era), FSU, Texas has affected that recruiting wise. It’s opened the door for Bama to snatch kids everywhere and same for Georgia

I hope for the team sake that they win 6 this year and I do hope they still get to go bowling. I think it would help this team a lot. I have faith in CH and I do love the staff. I do believe good things are coming but its going to take CH a couple of years to get who he wants and the depth he needs to compete. We don't have much of a chance Saturday but I just want to see improvement and never give up attitude. If Joe Starts, I really hope he starts clicking and hitting our WR we so need that. Love my Orange but I know its going to be a tough season. I am going to do my best to curb my QB talk cause it is what it is and we need either Joe or Hooker to catch fire. GBO!!

When football separates completely from the NCAA, whatever emerges needs to take hard control over recruiting. The sport will die if it continues down the path of 4-5 schools mattering and really only 2-3 being good enough to win any given year. I used to watch everyone. But years of Bama vs sacrificial lambs and occasionally Clemson or tOSU keeping their teams fresh enough with a weak schedule to pull a one off in a playoff game is not exciting at all. LSU had to rely on Burrow having an otherworldly season to be relevant.

And add in the 4 team playoffs, and you have a perfect storm.

And when the playoff committee said they were willing to bend what we all thought were the rules to let preferred teams in it got even worse. I hate it but the sport is in trouble. I love college football but it's corrupt as hell right now and it will eventually die from that if nothing is done.

Wait for beast to give us practice reports from Tues/Wed on the QB. Sort of between and betwixt at that position now and possible even after the UF game subject to Heup's commitment to the existing scheme or willingness to modify for Hooker. .
Is Beast our new Fingers 2.0

As for us... I think we found a playcaller. I am terrified that we don't have a recruiter yet but so far I've been impressed with JH's playcalling. If he'd been our coach last season with Calloway and JJ and Gray on the roster even JG would've looked good (or at least better).

If all these former players and other people are seeing that, then why aren't our coaches seeing it and fixing it?
I think people misinterpreted why I asked this question. It's not questioning the coaches. I was making the point, in a facetious way, that the coaches know better than anyone what needs to be worked on and fixed. This is their system. Specifically Heupel's system. He knows the ins and outs better than anyone. And sure, the WRs may be having some problems, but so are the QBs. It's probably not ALL the fault of any one position group. And the coaches are working on fixing it.

When some of us went and ate at Billy Ratliff’s restaurant in Powell after the Pitt game, he told us the exact same thing. He said the WR group is what is hurting us the most right now. Said Joe is throwing to a spot that the WR is supposed to be on his route, and none of our guys are getting there, so it looks like Joe is always overthrowing it, when in reality the WRs aren’t getting to the spot they should be consistently. If this is true, then Joe is no doubt QB1 because he gives this offense the best chance to blow the top off if he can start connecting on the deep ball.

Danggg so our WRs and Michigan WRs all suffer from the same exact problems 🙄

He say anything about the replays that show WRs running open down the middle of the field and Joe not seeing them? Guess Joe was looking to a spot and those darned WRs ran the wrong routes
