Two Points:

Normally, coaches say it is an execution problem when really it's a coaching problem (and some execution. This time around, it's clearly execution - the coaches have this team ready, the plays are good (for the most part) and they just are not executing.

Development - there is only so much a coaching staff can do. I saw a difference in Milton from Game 1 to Game 2, but then when it started going south and the boos came crashing down he just lost it. How much of that is on coaching? I don't know. Milton may not be the guy. Probably isn't.

I do believe the coaches will play who they feel is best for the situation they are in.
The day any coach starts listening to fans and making changes to his starters, is the day the wheels are completely off the program. These guys make big bucks to make those decisions and fans are just couch coaches. All their information is after the fact so that makes them experts :):):).

I can't imagine what is like for donors like yourselves. The frustration in giving as much of your time and money as you obviously do to have politics and inept management squander it.

I'm a lifelong fan and I want to pass this fandom on to my daughter. I took her Saturday, and after a 8 hour drive and back from Neyland, $30 for parking, $40 to eat and drink at the stadium... It adds up. The atmosphere is still there but it isn't what it used to be. And the facilities, at least in the upper areas are horrible. I'm trying to get her hooked like I was as a kid but it's not the same.

I told her I'd take her back to a night game under the lights in Neyland, spend a little more for better tickets, maybe next year. Hopefully that atmosphere will be better.

What are your thoughts on Heupel so far? My biggest concern is him being able to attract the quality players he needs to build the program. It's going to be a challenge.

I've grown to appreciate other sports. I still love Football Saturdays, but they don't have the magic they once did. The revival of baseball and watching Rick Barnes rebuild MBB is a reminder that UT has what it takes to be elite.

I'm glad you got to take in a game with your daughter. Neyland is still one of the great sports venues-- though it needs some TLC. I wish UT would do more to help families pass on the love of UT football to next-gen fans. They talk about it. But it isn't part of their "fan experience" roadmap. Someday, football will find its way. It always has...

I feel most mega stadiums are struggling to sell out. I’d be A OK with Neyland being like 95k and more about comfort and game day experience. TV is just too good these days.

If the last sentence is true, which I don’t think it is, we will be looking for a new coach before 4 years.

You will know by whether they adapt the offense to who they have at QB. Because so far, this O scheme does not even fit Milton. They had to know that based on Milton's past film and these two games. There are 10 other positions they have to develop into the scheme. It's not just the QB. We have issues at a lot of them that makes the QB, no matter who he is, look bad at times. So, do you change your scheme and system for a different style of play to fit one guy, an important one, if it means you win more now? Fans say "yes!". HC/staff/AD may not agree.

Will see how it plays out.

Two games in and we’ve left about 40 points on the field. I think the biggest issue is with one position. Need our QB to be better.

Maybe. Im thinking they make a strong offer to Cincys coach.

Would be a great hire. He turned Michigan State and us down last year. Most think he is waiting on Day to go to the NFL or Michigan opening up.

It'll be reduced capacity-- ongoing debates on how much. And the comfort of premium seating will come at a price. But nothing new there-- UT is moving with the times. Most schools are following the same paradigm.

I know, Neyland is an icon, and reno talks have come along, but has there ever been a discussion on tearing it down and starting over? If they want something more modern it could be the way to go. Although, it will be an unpopular decision.

I’m ok with it. 90k+ Is still a ton and a rowdy crowd. Bleachers are uncomfortable and I am willing to bet that most schools even some of the ones performing well are having issues with that much attendance. Most schools don’t even have 65k. A more comfortable higher tech stadium would be awesome.
