Im afraid Heupel is going to mess around and not try someone else then it’s in the meat of our schedule and that will only be tougher. We must get more QBs experience this weekend.

i don’t think we have the WRs to run a true art Briles style system in this conference. Not right now anyway. That’s why i thought Hooker would be our best bet at QB and they can get creative running QB power, counter, dart schemes all with RPOs tagged and basically just nickel and dime teams to death. If you get a open shot take it but that’s not what you’re depending on. Kentucky laid the blueprint on how to do it, we have just as much talent as they did offensively so i think it would work.

We’ve had receivers running wild for two straight weeks. One against a Pitt defense that all the talking heads said were way better than us. Do I think it works against UGA, BAMA etc.? No but we have enough to reach out target of 6-7 wins this year. QB play is the hindering factor.

The only people that matter is the coaching staff. I am not saying the criticism is not warranted. I am just saying I still trust the coaches.

I can't imagine what is like for donors like yourselves. The frustration in giving as much of your time and money as you obviously do to have politics and inept management squander it.

I'm a lifelong fan and I want to pass this fandom on to my daughter. I took her Saturday, and after a 8 hour drive and back from Neyland, $30 for parking, $40 to eat and drink at the stadium... It adds up. The atmosphere is still there but it isn't what it used to be. And the facilities, at least in the upper areas are horrible. I'm trying to get her hooked like I was as a kid but it's not the same.

I told her I'd take her back to a night game under the lights in Neyland, spend a little more for better tickets, maybe next year. Hopefully that atmosphere will be better.

What are your thoughts on Heupel so far? My biggest concern is him being able to attract the quality players he needs to build the program. It's going to be a challenge.

agreed. my frustration is the incompetence over a decade of crap decisions. truly makes no difference, changes nothing.

I trust the coaches. I think we are a better team than our other coaches had first year. I’m going to get very concerned if Milton struggles against Tenn Tech. I’d score 70 just to work on the deep ball.

To me, it’s looking like Heupel feels comfortable with Seniors out there. Comfortable won’t get him anywhere in this league.

Outperformed every QB on the roster from last season! Which tells us nothing because ZERO of those QBs are on the roster any longer. Clearly two different coaching staffs feel as if he’s ready to compete at this current time. You guys complained that Pruitt and Chaney didn’t know wth they were doing but we have Heupel who’s a QB guru essentially is making the statement.

I would rather it happen now in Heup's first season. I want Heup to get Milton out of his system or prove he is the best - right now. Go show out against a nobody and then let's see what he does against a real SEC opponent. I'm thinking longer term than this season. The fan base will let him know all about it as it is - there's no goodwill left. So go let Milton sink or swim right now.

I know what I would do but Heup and nobody else cares, so it doesn't matter.

IMO it is easy to understand why fans want to see Bailey. Last year everyone but the coaches knew we needed a different QB. When Bailey did get his chance he looked better than JG to most. He looked better in the spring game than Hooker. Then Milton arrives.

Milton has all the QB tools that coaches dream about- size, mobility, and a cannon for an arm. Milton supposedly excels in practice making the coaches think he is the best option. However, he locks in on reads and seemingly can’t hit anything past 20 yards in a real game.

After 15 years of coaching malpractice, it’s hard for the coaches to convince the fans that what they see with their own eyes is wrong. So the fans want to see the most accurate QB they have seen be able to get a chance to play. Is Bailey ready? Is he just a gamer? Will he flop? No one will ever know if he doesn’t get a chance to play. Just my opinion.

I don’t get why people think we cant have a vertical offense with HB. He’s got plenty of arm. Milton waits til the WR comes open, then overthrows him. HB can hit the deep ball by anticipating the WR coming open and throwing it sooner (which is what any good QB does anyway). The deep shots are recognized presnap. 1v1 and we are taking it. We don’t need a QB who can throw it 80 yards. We need one who knows WHEN to throw the ball and puts it where he wants to when he does. HB missed some deep shots last year, but he was barely off. Seemed like a chemistry thing to me and the spring game passes to Velus and Hyatt confirmed that imo

I just want to see the kid get a shot. No doubt in my mind he’s the best pure QB on the team. If he can hit just a couple of those deep balls we are in business.

This is where I’m at. He deserves a shot. He may ball out or he may fold but he deserves to play a lot this weekend. Last year even when he was in coaches would take him out. 6-6 85 yards and a TD against A&M benched. He’s not been given a shot. Every other QB has gotten to okay through their mistakes. Who cares if he fumbles? Milton and Hooker have both done that. I think he needs to play the entire second half next week.

forget I said anything about Heupel. Milton is trash. 50% completion since HS. Hasn’t changed and I’d bet it won’t. I hope we find a QB this year or else we gonna be starting Tayven next year

We will be too afraid to start a freshman. Every year expectations go up.

It’s frustrating for fans but I think the coaches may know what they have to work with at QB.

I think they’re doing a lot of things right. I think we have trouble running the football and that is one of the potential reasons why HB may not be a good option. This was his 247 evaluation coming out of high school:

“Tall with prototypical size. Has actually trimmed down some from his sophomore season. A polished pocket passer with sound mechanics. Well coached in terms of technique and has a consistent delivery. Has the ability to drive the ball downfield and shows good touch and ball location. Has posted good passing numbers against top competition in Georgia. Able to distribute to all levels of the field. Looks to be best suited in an offense with a run game that allows him to target big wide receivers downfield off of play action. Doesn't provide a run threat and needs to keep improving his mobility and feet in order to be able to evade the rush. Projects as a likely Power 5 starter with an all-league ceiling should he continue to progress. Should be a third-day NFL draft selection.”

Here’s Halzle at the beginning of fall camp:

“If you have a huge, powerful arm, but you can’t hit a building with it, like that doesn’t do us very good. But if you’re very accurate, but you can’t make a field throw, that doesn’t really help us either,” Halzle said. “So it’s really a holistic look at everything, like who gives us the best chance when we take the field on Saturday based on their skill set to go win. Not everybody has to be the same guy, but everybody has to have something that they give us that gives us a chance to go be successful on Saturdays.

“Can you make the throws that we need you to make? Can you extend plays when we need you to extend plays? But the main thing for our guys is can you process quickly. We play fast, we force the defense to play fast, so a lot of times guys won’t be in the exact right spot on the other side of the ball. Can you process what you’re seeing and get yourself, your eyes, your body in position to make the throw that we need every single time? The ability to process quickly is as big as anything that we have physically that we need.”

So there you go – tough choice – QB1 can’t hit a building with his powerful arm and QB3, the supposedly accurate one, can’t extend plays. QB2 may have a processing issue. If it was my call to make I think I’d use my phone a friend lifeline. That would be you guys. So if Heupel calls me I’m calling you guys. I’m counting on getting a right answer. jmo.
