I would say the “dumbassery” is the constant excuses. I guess whatever makes you feel better. I joined this board because my husband is not a football guy, and I thought I would see actual legit discussions about UT football. Sometimes I wonder if most people here are just here to argue and offer excuses… maybe not even actual fans??
Agreed. What’s even more amazing is a coach making a ton of money that won’t even try to review a terrible spot when the runner is clearly beyond the line to gain. Even MORE amazing is calling a shotgun formation when we need 6 inches.Volnation has devolved into new levels of stupidity. It’s really amazing to read posts here. Lol
He conversed with Line Judge about the spot making sure it was reviewed by the refs.Agreed. It raises a red flag for sure. Hopefully that’s the last we will see of it. I certainly don’t like how undisciplined his team appears to be. 134 penalty yards is huge.UT fans watched shotgun at the goal line fail at least a dozen times with Butch Jones. That call today makes me not very confident with the new coaching staff.
On no I agree in 4th and inches situations you never take the ball off the line of scrimmage, they should have snuck it. I’m just saying if they were going to go with that formation then hooker should’ve seen that end crashing and pull it outNo, you line Hooker up under center and QB sneak it. He’s going to get 6 inches. Just a dumb play call. They called a pretty good game till going brain dead then. That play call, 3 turnovers and 13 penalties cost them this one.
Heupel should come out and say the loss is on him for many reasons.
1. He started Milton who can’t hit the broad side of a barn at 20 yards. With Hooker in the game from the start, Hooker hits the seam down the middle for a TD and at least one of the other horribly overthrown long balls would’ve been caught. Milton should never sniff a game field again.
2. Discipline. Having nearly 3 times the penalties as the other team is one of many ways to lose a game.
3. 4th and 1/2 yard with 5 minutes left and everyone with an IQ above 60 knew there was a 90% chance he’d call the RB up the center and guess what. They were right. The ball is turned over on downs and the Vols lose a very winnable game. That was a very Pruitt / Dooley type play call.
If Hooker would’ve started the game our Vols would’ve won by 10 or more.
Ok. I have seen 71 scholarship players this year twice. Is this confirmed somewhere or is this just a talking point off of Twitter?Yes, we are going to go from a 3 win season last year to an 10 win season this yes. I know that's how some of you think. We also only have 71 scholarship players, new coaches and offensive strategy but that doesn't mean anything.
Wow. Thanks. Did not hear that (background noise and had volume down so I didn’t have to listen to the announcers). They mentioned it during the game….
