Yes, we are going to go from a 3 win season last year to an 10 win season this yes. I know that's how some of you think. We also only have 71 scholarship players, new coaches and offensive strategy but that doesn't mean anything.
Not expecting 10 wins but I am expecting us to not give the opponent almost a football field and a half in penalties. I'm expecting us to pick the right QB from the get go. I'm expecting our coaches to actually do their job and coach and not lose to mid-low tier ACC schools on our home turf.

I’d pay good money for someone to have a set of balls and ask wtf the non review was on the 4th down stopped marked 2 yards short then for fun, ask wth he was thinking on the shotgun formation on 4th and 6 inches. Cause that was some deer in the headlights chit
You right forward progress gave hooker that first down no doubt I knew at that time. As far as that 4th down call goes, that call had touchdown all over it if hooker had pull the ball out of JW belly as both DE on both sides crashed down. And last why in the world would you not pound Dee Beckwith in these short yd runs, I mean my god is he that bad he can’t sniff the field in no situation

Sometimes I feel the TN job is just a financial stepping stone for football coaches...

Not sure I understand. Maybe for Kiffen but since then, I’m guessing our coaches have viewed getting the UT job as winning a lottery. Stepping stone implies you are moving up after doing a good job. I reserve judgement on Heupel.

Really? I truly think Tennessee fans are some of the best. If you can’t understand frustration then you must have your head buried in the sand.

Frustration is fine. Dumbassery is another matter. So is turning on your coach two games into a rebuilding project because you lost a game you weren’t supposed to win.

Heupel should come out and say the loss is on him for many reasons.
1. He started Milton who can’t hit the broad side of a barn at 20 yards. With Hooker in the game from the start, Hooker hits the seam down the middle for a TD and at least one of the other horribly overthrown long balls would’ve been caught. Milton should never sniff a game field again.
2. Discipline. Having nearly 3 times the penalties as the other team is one of many ways to lose a game.
3. 4th and 1/2 yard with 5 minutes left and everyone with an IQ above 60 knew there was a 90% chance he’d call the RB up the center and guess what. They were right. The ball is turned over on downs and the Vols lose a very winnable game. That was a very Pruitt / Dooley type play call.

If Hooker would’ve started the game our Vols would’ve won by 10 or more.
If hooker would have started we probably have 5 turnovers.

Its a financial stepping stone, not necessarily to something better.

Follow up per CJH press conference:
He was in communication with Line Judge to make sure it was being reviewed. He didn't want to burn a TO, there. Coach didn't specifically say but my take away is it was reviewed and therefore no benefit in challenging.

Yes. They had to play to figure it out unfortunately, but Milton should be no more than QB2. He is no danger when it comes to the long ball, open or not.

Hooker got that first down on the scramble to the right just before the measurement. If you go back and rewatch he churned his way past the markers but the line judge got pushed about 8 yards away from the line to gain for some reason and gave him a bad spot.
Your absolutely right...

No, you line Hooker up under center and QB sneak it. He’s going to get 6 inches. Just a dumb play call. They called a pretty good game till going brain dead then. That play call, 3 turnovers and 13 penalties cost them this one.

Yep, he was well past the line needed for a 1st down. At the same time you gotta get 6" in a tight game.

Saw a lot of good. Saw a lot of bad. I think we have a new qb going forward. Tiyon Evans finally getting on the field will be huge for the rest of the season. My biggest complaints are the wide open middle of the field on defense and the penalties. Overall, the offense was fun to watch today.

I would say the “dumbassery” is the constant excuses. I guess whatever makes you feel better. I joined this board because my husband is not a football guy, and I thought I would see actual legit discussions about UT football. Sometimes I wonder if most people here are just here to argue and offer excuses… maybe not even actual fans??

You hire average coaches, expect average results.
You know the type of TV show where each new season is too similar to the last one; new bad guy, same story? I feel like that's this program. Every Tenn game and season is just a slightly different version of the same thing lol.

EXACTLY! UT Administration keeps asking us for money so they can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the facilities but continue to hire mediocre Head Coaches. Ground Hog Day continues.
